Ken Berwitz

It's coming.  The economic seismologists see it rushing towards shore.  There's no way to stop it.  And government being government, no one has any idea what to do about it.

Excerpted from Abby Goodnough's article in, of all places, today's New York Times:

Medicaid for years has struggled with a shortage of doctors willing to accept its low reimbursement rates and red tape, forcing many patients to wait for care...

Yet in just five weeks, millions of additional Americans will be covered by the program, many of them older people with an array of health problems. The Congressional Budget Office predicts that nine million people will gain coverage through Medicaid next year alone. In many of the 26 states expanding the program, the newly eligible have been flocking to sign up.

Community clinics, which typically provide primary but not specialty care, have expanded and hired more medical staff members to meet the anticipated wave of new patients. And managed-care companies are recruiting doctors, nurse practitioners and other professionals into their networks, sometimes offering higher pay if they improve care while keeping costs down. But it is far from clear that the demand can be met, experts say.

How could they not have anticipated that there would be a huge rush of people signing up for Medicaid?  How could they not have understood that stuffing millions more people into a program that already did not have enough medical support, then promising a "temporary" increase in payments to Medicaid doctors - which a) still leaves the payments below those of non-Medicaid patients and b) in any event expire next year - would not be a serious incentive for them to participate in the program?

So we have millions and millions of new Medicaid patients, and probably fewer doctors to take care of them.

Let me ask this another way:  When did government ever do anything with intelligence, efficiency or foresight?

Can someone in the Obama administration - maybe that jovial, self-effacing Ezekiel Emanuel - explain to us how this is going to succeed?

And when we're through hearing the explanation - presumably some form of Jackie Gleason's famous 'homena homena homena" - maybe they can then explain to us why so few young, healthy people are signing up -- the ones who must sign up for ObamaCare to function at all, without raising insurance premiums through the ionosphere.

Could it be that young, healthy people do not want to pay inflated insurance premiums to subsidize everyone else?

The USA needs significant health care reform.  I say that not as a throw-off line; I mean it with 100% sincerity.

But ObamaCare is not the answer.  ObamaCare is an uworkable monstrosity; a left wing wet dream, which is likely to "succeed" in discussion groups at faculty lounges in universities around the country, but is a disaster in the real world.

Is it fixable in its present form?  I don't see how.

Zeke .... .... ObamieKare has brilliantly given Health Insurance to Millions 'n Millions who never had it before. . . . . . . Regretfully, this insurance does not engender actual Medical Care and Treatment. . . . . But, you can vainly search for a competent doctor while firmly clutching the ObamieKare Gub'mint Insurance Card (recognizable by the miles of Red Tape) . . . . . . (11/29/13)

Did Barack Obama lie about being the author of his first book?

It is an excellent bet that he did.

william ayers, the unrepentant urban terrorist of the 60's - and (of course, therefore) celebrated political hero to universities around the country - is now indicating what many of us thought all along:  that he, not Barack Obama, wrote the book "Dreams From My Father".

Excerpted from Investors' Business Daily's editorial of November 26th:

Trust: We know ObamaCare was sold on a lie, but what about the Obama presidency itself? Rumors that Obama's violent leftist pal Bill Ayers ghostwrote the memoir that launched his political career may actually be true.

Obama has always claimed authorship of his bestselling "Dreams From My Father."

But Ayers is telling a different story. In promoting his new book, "Public Enemy," Ayers' publisher, Beacon Press, has written a blurb on that says Ayers "finally 'confesses' that he did write 'Dreams From My Father.'"

The reprehensible former terrorist twice before laid claim to Obama's book - once during a post-election interview and again during a speech two years ago.

In October 2009, Ayers told an interviewer at Reagan National Airport in Washington that he wrote "Dreams From My Father." Asked if he meant he "heavily edited" the book for his friend, Ayers insisted, "I wrote it."

He added that Michelle Obama asked him to help Obama, who had blown deadlines and was struggling with delivering a manuscript.

Then in March 2011, Ayers revealed his role in the book after giving a speech at Montclair State University in New Jersey. During a question-and-answer session, a member of the audience remarked how well Obama's first memoir was written.

Ayers agreed and offered that Obama's second autobiography - "Audacity of Hope" - paled in comparison. He said "the second one was more of a political hack book, but the first book's quite good."

Then Ayers volunteered, "Did you know I wrote it?"

"What's that?" the startled questioner asked.

"I wrote 'Dreams From My Father,'" Ayers asserted.

Obama's media protectors wrote those statements off as "sarcasm." But now Ayers is publishing the claim.

The editorial goes on to remind us that Barack Obama launched his political career at the home of ayers and his terrorist wife, bernardine dohrn.

In that connection, didn't Obama claim that ayers was nothing more than just some guy he occasionally saw around the neighborhood?  Another blatant lie.

Is there anything real about this man?  What do we actually know about him?  And when I ask that question - the left's standard apoplexy over this subject notwithstanding - I include where and when he was born, since the long-form birth certificate he produced was so obviously a fraud.

For years, media, and a good many people who are intelligent enough to know better, have looked the other way on Barack Obama's behalf as he has told lie after lie after lie.  But now that ObamaCare is such a disaster and his promises regarding keeping insurance coverage/doctors are so clearly fraudulent, a lot of those people may finally be receptive to reconsidering their deference to him - both for what he is saying now, and what he has said in the past.

It's about time.

What an interesting coincidence, given what I wrote in the previous blog.

I just put on MSNBC and came across Chris Matthews, with three leftists of varying degrees:  Howard Fineman (leans left...a lot moreso than years ago) Jonathan Capehart (no lean, he's to the left) and David Corn (far left), engaging in a mutual sneer-a-thon regarding the possibility that President Obama was not born here, and his birth certificate may be  fake.

I tuned in during the part where Matthews - as he has many times - disdainfully laughed along with the other three about what a brilliant tactic it was for Mr. Obama's mother to put that ad in the paper announcing his birth on the off-chance that he might run for President someday.

It's a great routine, too.  I bet it fools a lot of people.  Except....

-The law in place at that time enabled Mr. Obama's mother to get a birth certificate for baby Barack by swearing he was born in Hawaii and getting someone else (maybe Grandma Dunham) to second the motion.

If you want to read the specific law, just click here and scroll to Act 96...keeping in mind that it was in force from 1911 to 1972, and  Barack Obama was born in 1961;

-If Mommy Dunham/Obama did this, it would make Barack Obama a US Citizen, with all the advantages it brings ...and eliminate what the Dunham family might have considered the stigma of having a child from, say, Kenya instead of the USA;

-And, as a matter of course, birth announcements - not just Barack Obama's but everyone else's as well - were forwarded by the Department Of Health to the newspapers, which then printed them.  So the announcement of his birth in the Honolulu Sunday Advertiser (August 13, 1961) had nothing to do with Mr. Obama's mother at all.

Suddenly it doesn't sound so ridiculous, does it?

Then add in the fact that, at various times, Barack Obama's family has said he was born at two different hospitals - The Queen's Medical Center and Kapi'olani Medical Center - but neither of them has ever taken "credit" for being his birthplace (wouldn't you think they would be thrilled to do so?).  And not one doctor, or nurse, or candy-striper has ever come forward to 'remember' his birth (it is virtually impossible they all would have been dead five years ago, when he first ran for President, or even today).

Now the possibility of him being born elsewhere is even less ridiculous, wouldn't you say?

See, the idea is to make people feel so stupid for daring to even think Barack Obama was born somewhere else, and be under such relentless siege by the Matthews', Finemans, Capeharts and Corns of the world, that they just acquiesce and pretend there is no issue about his birth place.

My congratulations to this bunch:  it has been hugely effective.  But the success they have enjoyed notwithstanding, there is an issue.

And, as noted in the previous blog, we know so little about Barack Obama's past, and he has lied to us so many times about so many things, that there is no good reason to take his word for it.

Or just about anything else.

Zeke .... .... .... Perhaps those brilliant news personalities could explain WHY Barack spent millions of his (well, DNC's) money, and later the US Gov't's money to KEEP his birth, school, passport, college, law school, scholarship, health records secret. .... ..... What exactly is he concealing ? ... ... And WHY did Barack, and then Michelle separately give up their LAW LICENSES . . . . That is like shouting "I Quit" just before you're told, "You are Fired!? . . . .(at least W J Clinton was formally disbarred). . . . . (11/29/13)

Zeke .... .... Barack's autobiographies present "combined" persons and events. A single girlfriend is acknowledged to be an amalgam of several people. . . . . . . Therefore, the issue of where he was born could also be an amalgam --- he was born SOMEWHERE on this Earth - - - no need to worry if he is an Alien from Mars. No need to look for his Flying Saucer. . . . . . . He is definitely an Earthling. . . . . and, for you Racists out there -- Barack is definitely a Human . . . . . . (11/29/13)
