THE RACIAL MANTRA

Ken Berwitz

I'm very busy with business issues today.  But what time I have had to look at web sites dealing with the Zimmerman verdict, shows me that the mantra of our racial hucksters, leftist groups, and media which are either sympathetic to their position, afraid to go up against it, or both, is that an innocent young child was shot and killed for no reason.  And that this individual verdict in this individual case, proves Black people, most especially young Black males, are "not safe", "in the crosshairs", that "there are 12 year olds crawling into bed with their parents", and assorted other unbelievable gooey BS.

A reminder:  Whether or not you like the verdict, this was one case in one place, with one defendant.  It is not - repeat, not - a metaphor for all young Black men, any more than it is a metaphor for all young mixed-race men who volunteer for neighborhood watch patrols.

And another reminder:  It is now 505 days after Trayvon Martin was shot and killed.  Since, according to 2010 FBI figures, about 15 Black people are murdered every day by other Black people, this means that, after the Martin shooting, about 7,575 Black people have been murdered by other Black people.

Every one of those 7,575 are just as dead, and were just as Black, as Trayvon Martin.   Do these race-hucksters and leftists give a damn about any of them?  If so, they sure have an anonymous way of showing it.

For people who care about the carnage being visited upon Black people - who are not just interested in using Trayvon Martin's shooting as an opportunity to scream RACISM with no good reason (i.e. there is no evidence that George Zimmerman was a racist...but plenty to indicate he was anything but) - those victims should be as significant as Trayvon Martin is.

But for people whose interest is solely in treating this as strictly a racial issue?  They will ignore those 7,575.

Or pretend there is no such thing as a Black-on-Black crime problem.

Or use it as an opportunity to whine out one racial/ethnic generalization after another.

And they call other people racist?  Yeah, right.

MORE ON THE ZIMMERMAN AFTERMATH

Ken Berwitz

All day the left wing loonies on MSNBC - and others as well - have been doing everything in their power to make sure the Zimmerman verdict continues to be racialized in every way possible.

And that goes double for the disgusting excuse of a man we have as our Attorney General.

The protests have already turned violent.  A jogger was beaten by Black men in Mississippi who told him "this is for Trayvon".

This is purposely, intentionally being worked into a racial firebomb.  And when it explodes - which it already is starting to do - the damage, the blood, is on their hands.

I hope they're good and damn happy with the carnage they are aiding, abetting and orchestrating.

TRAYVON MARTIN AND PROFILING

Ken Berwitz

In watching media coverage of the Trayvon Martin shooting, I have continuously seen/heard Black interviewees answer the question of why, if Trayvon Martin felt threatened, he did not simply call the police, by explaining that young Black males fear the police may not treat them the same way as they would treat a young White male they would be looked on with suspicion, their side of the story would not be believed, and the police would simply assume they were up to no good.

And, though the extent to which this happens may be less now than during other eras, they have a point.  There is little doubt that police have a history of profiling young Black males.

But what never seems to be asked, is why:  what's their explanation?

Maybe this will help.

According to 2010 FBI statistics, 50% of all murders in the United States were committed by Blacks, and 70% of those murders were committed by young Black males (under 30 years of age).  Therefore, young Black males, who comprise maybe 4% of the total population, account for about 35% of all murders.

Just as sadly, the data for other serious crimes, such as rape and robbery, show similar patterns.

Does this mean that all young Black males are murderers, or rapists, or robbers?  Of course not.

Does it mean that all young Black males are suspicious characters who deserve to be intensely scrutinized?  Of course not.

But it does mean that there is a basis for doing such profiling beyond simple racial hatred.

To the mothers of Black males - the ones who anguish over the fact that their children, through absolutely no fault of their own, might be more of a target than non-White males - I would suggest that the focus of their anger might, at least in part, be directed toward the young Black male predators who have created the above statistics.

Let me end with a question:  suppose a young Black male, maybe wearing a hoodie, walks into a Black owned convenience store.  Do you have any doubt that he will be scrutinized by the store owner just as carefully as he would be by a White store owner?

That's worth thinking about.

THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Ken Berwitz

Today's quote comes from the redoubtable Alan Dershowitz, who is more than a little upset by the awful job Florida State Attorney Angela Corey did in, among other things, charging George Zimmerman with second degree murder.

Speaking on last night's Huckabee show on Fox, Mr. Dershowitz had this to say:

"She submitted an affidavit that was, if not perjurious, completely misleading. She violated all kinds of rules of the profession, and her conduct bordered on criminal conduct. She, by the way, has a horrible reputation in Florida. She's known for overcharging, she's known for being highly political. And in this case, of course she overcharged. Halfway through the trial she realized she wasn't going to get a second degree murder verdict, so she asked for a compromised verdict, for manslaughter. And then, she went even further and said that she was going to charge him with child abuse and felony murder. That was such a stretch that it goes beyond anything professionally responsible. She was among the most irresponsible prosecutors I've seen in 50 years of litigating cases, and believe me, I've seen good prosecutors, bad prosecutors, but rarely have I seen one as bad as this prosecutor, [Angela] Corey."

Yep, exactly.  Quote Of The Day honors well earned.

Heck, I doubt that a better summation of Angela Corey could be made, even from a famous Harvard Law Professo....oh, wait..

MSNBC BEING MSNBC

Ken Berwitz

I just put on my TV for a moment, to see how the Zimmerman verdict is being handled.

I tuned into MSNBC,  and am being treated to a "panel" of four hard-leftists, a hard left host (Alex Wagner), all complaining bitterly that justice was not served - i.e. the verdict didn't go the way they wanted it to go.

At the point when Karen Finney whined that, hard though it may be, it's about time we had a national conversation about race - as if this conversation has not been going on continually for her entire life - I gave up and the TV is now off.

Isn't it nice when things stay in a prescribed order, and you don't have to wonder about surprises?  Javert, the relentless pursuer of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, sang about it, and committed suicide when things changed for him.

Tell you what, though:  if Javert was waiting for MSNBC to give serious consideration to more than one side of this, or just about any other, issue...he'd still be with us.

RACIAL FLAMETHROWING BY THE MEDIA (CONT.)

Ken Berwitz

Did you watch any media coverage of the Trayvon Martin aftermath this morning?

The same media which, largely on the basis of lies and deceptions, built this into a racial firebomb for the last year and a half, are gleefully doing it all over again now.

To watch the reports, you would swear that the only people in the USA with any opinion about the verdict believe George Zimmerman was guilty, Trayvon Martin is a hero and all Black people are under siege.

Maybe they'll get lucky, and convince a few of the more volatile protesters to go over the top and start beating and/or killing White people "for Trayvon".  It has already happened, and there is no doubt, if the envelope is pushed, it can happen again.  Then they'll have a nice big story to report.

The "journalists" doing this have no professionalism, no integrity, no ethics and no shame.
