THE ZIMMERMAN JURY

Ken Berwitz

A jury has finally been selected for the George Zimmerman trial.

Incredibly, it consists 100% of women, and 0% of Blacks*.

You might wonder how it is possible that in a venue in which 49% of the residents are male and 40% are Black, neither male nor Black jurors would be selected.

Me too.

I have talked about the various farcical aspects of this trial for a long time, very much including the charge itself - second degree murder - which does not appear to make any sense at all.  And now you can add jury selection to the pile.

What next?  Jugglers?  Dancing bears?

=======

*Now it is being reported that one juror may be at least partly Black.  When they sort it out I will let you know.

free` When I read that it was an all woman jury, I had a sick feeling come over me. Zimmerman is toast! I predict he will be found guilty and sentenced to the max. (06/21/13)

THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Ken Berwitz

Today's quote comes to us from Gary Pruitt, President of the Associated Press.

Here is Mr. Pruitt's view of how the Department of "Justice" (while it is headed by eric holder, those quotation marks are necessary) has intimidated news sources for the AP, and other news venues:

"The actions of the DoJ against AP are already having an impact beyond the specifics of this particular case.  Some of our longtime trusted sources have become nervous and anxious about talking to us, even on stories that aren't about national security. And in some cases, government employees that we once checked in with regularly will no longer speak to us by phone, and some are reluctant to meet in person.

"This chilling effect is not just at AP, it's happening at other news organizations as well.  Journalists from other news organizations have personally told me it has intimidated sources from speaking to them. Now, the government may love this. I suspect they do. But beware the government that loves secrecy too much."

My congratulations to the Obama administration.  Mission Accomplished.  Another major step in the Chavezing the United States of America has been achieved.  A government that scares news sources into silence has really accomplished something major.

And, on a much less sarcastic/much more sincere note, thank you Gary Pruitt, for saying what should be said, as bluntly as you did.  It takes a brave man to butt up against the thugocracy that Barack Obama has put in place.  I commend you for your courage -- as I worry about what will happen to you because of it.

Quote Of The Day honors are yours.

free` Now that he has control over the pesky media he can run for a 3rd term without any laws needing to be changed. Most people that voted for obama I am sure have no clue their is a limit of 2 terms and the msm sure isn't going to report it. Now!!! My post is only about 40% sarcasm. Every video I have seen of obama voters, shows what idiots they are about this country and what rules and laws govern it. (06/21/13)

ABORTION ABOMINATION

Ken Berwitz

As you may be aware, the House of Representatives has passed the "Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act", which bans abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy.  The name of the act derives from the fact that, at 20 weeks, the baby is capable of feeling pain.

But that is no problem for Ms. Moore.  Here is what she had to say about this legislation:

"This bill is an abomination.  Plain and simple, at its foundation, at its heart, is utter disrespect for the dignity and health of women.

"Boy, I tell you, the House GOP has truly pushed the limits this time by offering this unconstitutional bill...(which) would callously and cavalierly limit access to abortion for women across the country.

"Now we have a bill that is born of ignorance and disregard for medical science in every way, shape, and form - no concern for the biology, physiology, sociology of the woman"

Very strong words.  How dare anyone put that kind of value on a baby 20 weeks into its development.

But, in case Ms. Moore is interested, here is what that baby actually looks like:

Next week

  Previous week

20 Weeks

Baby, fetus at 20 weeks - BabyCenter SkinBowelUterus

What does that look like to you, Rep. Moore?  A few random cells floating around in the uterus?

When an abortion is performed at 20 weeks, the living, breathing, almost fully formed child you see above is what is killed.

So do me a favor and save your whining about "ignorance and disregard for medical science" for people who are as ignorant as you are, and who disregard human life as much as you apparently do.

As regular readers of this blog know, I am not against abortion.  I support contraceptive usage, I support the so-called "day after" pill, and I support abortions on demand -- until there is a beating heart and brain activity.  Once that occurs, in my opinion there is a living baby, and to abort it is to kill that baby.

But to the Gwen Moores of the world, that is not a baby.  It doesn't count.  And who cares whether it can feel pain?  That is only a problem for neanderthal right wingers/religious nuts, you see, not for elevated, progressive, intellectual sorts like her.

And, please note, there is not one word here about women's responsibility to have abortions performed before this advanced stage of development.  Nope, that doesn't even enter the picture.  Not in Gwen Moore's world.

Let me end by putting up another Gwen Moore quote:

"Planned Parenthood is healthy for women, it's healthy for children, and it's healthy for our society."

Healthy for children?  You mean like the children you so enthusiastically want killed?  Healthy for our society?  I suppose that is true, if we want to live in a society which celebrates infanticide.

Well, at least she got the Planned Parenthood part right, though.  Since Planned Parenthood performs more abortions, by far, than anyone else, Ms. Moore's view will certainly insure the organization's financial health.
