THE BIG BROTHER ADMINISTRATION

Ken Berwitz

In case you thought the Obama administration was only doing it through selective IRS audits and through bugging reporters whose network was critical of King Barack....

...we have Glenn Greenwald's truly shocking article in London's Daily Guardian -- and (finally I can say something good about NBC) as reported on the Today Show - along with, I suspect the other morning shows as well.

Here are the first few paragraphs of Mr. Greenwald's article, which should be chilling to anyone in this country, regardless of political affiliation.  Please pay special attention to the part I have put in bold print:

The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America's largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April.

The order, a copy of which has been obtained by the Guardian, requires Verizon on an "ongoing, daily basis" to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the US and between the US and other countries.

The document shows for the first time that under the Obama administration the communication records of millions of US citizens are being collected indiscriminately and in bulk - regardless of whether they are suspected of any wrongdoing.

The secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (Fisa) granted the order to the FBI on April 25, giving the government unlimited authority to obtain the data for a specified three-month period ending on July 19.

Under the terms of the blanket order, the numbers of both parties on a call are handed over, as is location data, call duration, unique identifiers, and the time and duration of all calls. The contents of the conversation itself are not covered.

Do you recall how long and how loudly Democrats railed against the Patriot Act, signed into law by then-President Bush a month after the 9/11 attack which killed thousands of US citizens?  Remember the argument that, even though the intent was to protect ourselves from terrorists plotting future attacks,  it was an unacceptable infringement on our privacy?

Well, if Mr. Greenwald's information is correct, we now have the Obama administration using that same Patriot Act Democrats condemned, to collect information on millions of citizens who are not suspected of any wrongdoing.

And who are those citizens?  I cannot prove it, but I would bet my bottom dollar they are disproportionately, if not vastly, the same Republicans/conservatives/Tea Party activists who this depraved bunch has targeted through the IRS.

The Obama administration is not operating like any government I am familiar with in my lifetime.  It is a Chicago machine politics-style political thugocracy, which seems to care nothing whatsoever about our basic freedoms, only about crushing all opposition, irrespective of their right to speak up or even exist.

Under Barack Obama, I do not recognize my own country.

WHEN will this end?  HOW will this end?  WHAT will the United States of America be when it ends?

I have never been less optimistic about our future than I am now.

IS CARTER HULL THE LIE-RS SMOKING GUN?

Ken Berwitz

Is Carter Hull the IRS go-to guy in Washington (NOT Cincinnati, but Washington), who concocted, those obnoxious, probably illegal questions?  The ones which IRS clowns who have been lying to us at the capital hearings used, to deny Tea Party, Patriot, and assorted other conservative groups tax exempt status - while conferring it on left wing group after left wing group?

Patrick Howley, at dailycaller.com, has what looks to me very much like the smoking gun which implicates Hull in this ugly, abusive, borderline fascist little enterprise.  I will provide the beginning of Mr. Howley's blog below.  But by all means, I urge you in strongest terms to click here and read it all:

A Washington IRS attorney named Carter Hull closely oversaw the targeting of conservative nonprofit groups and suggested questions that IRS employees could ask of conservative and Tea Party groups applying for tax-exempt nonprofit status, according to interviews that two IRS employees gave with congressional investigators.

"I was essentially a front person, because I had no autonomy or no authority to act on [applications] without Carter Hull's influence or input," said Elizabeth Hofacre, an employee of the Cincinnati IRS office, according to a new report in the Wall Street Journal.

Mr. Howley's blog goes on to show the actual correspondence, complete with the specific questions to be asked.  Again, I urge you to use the link I've provided and read this entire blog.  And then click here to read the Wall Street Journal article Mr. Howley references, which provides extensive additional information.  You won't understand how ugly this is unless you do.

The dead fish stink of Lie-RS gets worse every day.

And the worst is yet to come.  Count on it.

CHRISTIE'S CHOICE

Ken Berwitz

For a smart guy........I don't know.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has handed the vacant senate, seat formerly occupied by Frank Lautenberg, to his long-time colleague and close friend. the state's Attorney General, Jeff Chiesa.

Mr. Chiesa, who has absolutely no legislative experience of any kind has pledged not to run for a full term.

Therefore, he will come into the Senate not having a clue about how to do his job, and four months later - barely enough time to figure out where the men's room is - he will leave.

I don't know it for a fact, but I am guessing that Chiesa was going to bow out as the state's Attorney General after one term, so this, in essence, is Chris Christie bestowing a big favor to his pal - i.e. he can say he was a United States Senator for a few months, apropos of nothing.

Politically speaking, Chiesa is, by his own reckoning, a relatively conservative Republican - not that it matters, since he will be gone almost as soon as he shows up.

Bottom line:  Chris Christie has done nothing for his party's prospects to hold this senate seat.  He has done nothing for anyone or anything except Jeff Chiesa's ego and Democrat Cory Booker's already-substantial likelihood of becoming a US Senator.

I have no doubt that,Christie has angered his fellow Republicans immensely - and with good reason, because he has virtually assured Democrats of holding a senate seat that might have had a serious chance switch over.  And I have no doubt that Christie has Democrats all over New Jersey and the rest of the country shaking their heads in disbelief at what he has done for them, even as they guffaw at the idea that he might think this puts him in any good stead with them for 2016.

No one knows what the future holds for anyone, of course.  But, if I were a betting man, I would be betting that Chris Christie has effectively ended any realistic chance he had for national office.

TWO MORE REMINDERS FOR THE LOST TRIBE TO IGNORE

Ken Berwitz

This blog is dedicated to the Lost Tribe - i.e. the Jews, and non-Jews who support Israel but voted for Barack Obama.

Given the imperviousness of their commitment to Mr. Obama, this probably will not do any good, but just this week we have two more reminders of just how disdainful of Israel the current administration is.

One is from John Kerry, who has parlayed almost one-third of a century as a senator whose loud, left-wing mouth never has translated into any meaningful accomplishments (I challenge you to name one major bill in all that time that he sponsored and saw through to enactment).  Here is his truly remarkable explanation of why he is incapable of moving the so-called "peace process" forward:

"I think there is an opportunity [for peace], but for many reasons it's not on the tips of everyone's tongue. People in Israel aren't waking up every day and wondering if tomorrow there will be peace because there is a sense of security and a sense of accomplishment and of prosperity."

No, I did not make this up.  Kerry really said it.  Those exact words.  And he did so two weeks ago, which means that our wonderful "neutral" media, ever willing to cover for the Obama adminsitration and its hacks, decided that the Secretary of State's beyond-absurd claim that Israel is not willing to make peace with Palestinian Arabs is because they have "a seonse of security and a sense of accomplishment and of prosperity".

Tell us, Mr. Kerry:  How would you prefer Israelis to feel?  If Israelis woke up every day insecure with a feeling of non-accomplishment and poverty, do you think it would move them toward peace?  Have Palestinian Arabs, who have spent decades forgoing the activities which make Israel feel this way and instead directed their minds, bodies and resources toward annihilating the the Jewish state, moved closer to making peace?

The other reminder - and it is a big one - comes straight from President Obama, who has appointed veteran Israel hater Samantha Power as our new Ambassador to the United Nations....replacing demonstrated liar and Benghazi cover-up complicitor Susan Rice, who has been rewarded for her actions by being named Mr. Obama's National Security Adviser.

There are many web sites which show, with crystal clarity, Power's animosity toward Israel.  One of them, Paul Mirengoff's blog at powerlineblog.com, not only gives us an overview of just how deep her Israel-hatred goes (while reminding us that, when it comes to Israel-hating, she has nothing on Obama's new Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel), but links us to an earlier blog which deals with this reality in much more specific terms.  Here are excerpts from that earlier blog:

In a 2002 interview, Power advocated investing billions of dollars to impose a Palestinian state. That investment would include the insertion of "a mammoth" and explicitly "military" force into the disputed territory.

Power's anti-Israel sentiment is further apparent in her support of slashing, if not eliminating, military aid to Israel (an ally surrounded by 300 million people who wish to destroy her) and giving it to the Palestinians, whose charters (whether the Hamas or Fatah version) advocate the destruction of Israel.

Arnold Ahlert, writing for frontpagemag.com, provides more evidence of Power's attitude toward Israel.  Here is one small segment:

In 2008, Power released a book, Chasing the Flame: Sergio Vieira De Mello and the Fight to Save the World, a biography of the UN official killed in Baghdad in a 2003 terrorist bombing. When a UN force sent to Lebanon in 1982 to stop a series of attacks emanating from a mini-state created by the PLO in that country proved ineffective, Israel forces remained there as well. Power argued  that:

Israeli forces refused to comply with the spirit of international demands to withdraw and the major powers on the Security Council were not prepared to deal with the gnarly issues that had sparked the Israelis invasion in the first place: dispossessed Palestinians and Israeli insecurity.

Again, Power implied moral equivalency by ignoring the reality that Israel went into Lebanon to destroy a terrorist infrastructure on the Lebanese-Israeli border that had attacked IDF forces and the Israeli communities near the border.

Also in 2008, Power wrote a Time magazine column belittling concerns about Iran's nuclear program, characterizing it as a figment of George W. Bush's imagination.

Let me again say that I do not expect these latest reminders - these very tangible reminders which should raise about 18 red flags for any supporter of Israel - to break through the firewall Lost Tribers have built to protect themselves from even the tiniest anti-Obama thoughts.

But facts are what they are.  And Lost Tribers are free to ignore them...which, sad to say, most no doubt will.

What was that old saying about leading a horse to water?

THE ZTI CROWD STRIKES AGAIN

Ken Berwitz

ZTI stands for Zero Tolerance Imbeciles.  And, like the Eveready battery rabbit, they seem incpable of stopping.

This latest example of a ZTI at work comes to us from Northern Middle School in Owings, Maryland.  As reported by Martin Di Caro of WMAL-FM, and excerpted below:

The father of a middle schooler in Calvert County, Md. says his 11-year-old son was suspended for 10 days for merely talking about guns on the bus ride home.

Bruce Henkelman of Huntingtown says his son, a sixth grader at Northern Middle School in Owings, was talking with friends about the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre when the bus driver hauled him back to school to be questioned by the principal, Darrel Prioleau.

"The principal told me that with what happened at Sandy Hook if you say the word 'gun' in my school you are going to get suspended for 10 days," Henkelman said in an interview with WMAL.com.

So what did the boy say?  According to his father, he neither threatened nor bullied anyone.

"He said, I wish I had a gun to protect everyone. He wanted to defeat the bad guys. That's the context of what he said," Henkelman said. "He wanted to be the hero."

The boy was questioned by the principal and a sheriff's deputy, who also wanted to search the family home without a warrant, Henkelman said. "He started asking me questions about if I have firearms, and [the deputy said] he's going to have to search my house.  Search my house?  I just wanted to know what happened."

Principal Darrel Prioleau did not respond to calls and emails seeking comment. Robin Welsh, the deputy superintendent of Calvert County Schools, said federal privacy rules prohibited her from commenting on a specific case, but she said students are not suspended without cause.

Are you rubbing your eyes in disbelief?  If so, don't blame you.

Now the ZTI crowd thinks they make us safer by giving out 10 day suspensions to children who don't have a gun, but mention guns?

And how do you like the consummate arrogance of Principal darrel prioleau, who issued the 10 day suspension but refuses to explain or justify it - or robin welsh, who hides behind some murky interpretation of "federal privacy rules"?

If you can't do either, Mr. prioleau, maybe what you should be doing is issuing an apology instead.

"Zero Tolerance".  Another way of saying "We don't have to think".  As proven over and over again.

SUPERMARKET SANITARY SUGGESTION

Ken Berwitz

Apropos of nothing political.

Here's a suggestion for you.  The next time you are in a supermarket, ask the manager when the last time was that the store sanitized its shopping carts and hand-held baskets.

Then watch that manager squirm.

Then you squirm, because the fact that your supermarket probably has not done any such thing in years, if ever, means that the food you are putting in that cart or basket, which you and your family will ingest, is sitting in god only knows what filth, germs, disease, etc.

I may be wrong, but I would bet that the first supermarket which installs some kind of sanitizing system for its carts and baskets, will not only generate profits far in excess of that system's cost from the increased clientele it generates, but will be thanked by customer after customer.

Supermarket basket/cart sanitizing:  what a great idea for some enterprising person with engineering talent!!!

Ok, back to politics.

Zeke .... .... The ShopRite I go to has sanitizing wipes as you walk in with your cart. The arm baskets are two steps from the wipes dispenser. (06/06/13)

Ken Berwitz zeke - a lot of supermarkets have them. But there is no comparison between someone quickly running a wipe like that over part of the cart/basket and its actually being completely cleaned periodically. I'm amazed that no supermarket (none that I'm aware of anyway) has figured out a way to fully clean them - and to advertise that they do it. (06/06/13)
