HOW MUCH DO YOU BELIEVE IN COINCIDENCES?

Ken Berwitz

How much do you believe in coincidences?  I ask this question because, if you believe this is a coincidence, you are one of the great believers of all time.

Excerpted from Jeffrey Lord's article at americanthinker.com:

March 31, 2010.

According to the White House Visitors Log, provided here in searchable form by U.S. News and World Report, the president of the anti-Tea Party National Treasury Employees Union, Colleen Kelley, visited the White House at 12:30pm that Wednesday noon time of March 31st.

The White House lists the IRS union leader's visit this way:

Kelley, Colleen Potus 03/31/2010 12:30

In White House language, "POTUS" stands for "President of the United States."

The very next day after her White House meeting with the President, according to the Treasury Department's Inspector General's Report, IRS employees - the same employees who belong to the NTEU - set to work in earnest targeting the Tea Party and conservative groups around America. The IG report wrote it up this way:

April 1-2, 2010: The new Acting Manager, Technical Unit, suggested the need for a Sensitive Case Report on the Tea Party cases. The Determinations Unit Program Manager Agreed.

In short: the very day after the president of the quite publicly anti-Tea Party labor union - the union for IRS employees - met with President Obama, the manager of the IRS "Determinations Unit Program agreed" to open a "Sensitive Case report on the Tea party cases." As stated by the IG report.

Interesting, wouldn't you say?

Now:  how did Jeffrey Lord come up with this?  Is he brilliant?  Does he have some clandestine source no one else has?

No.  Not at all.  All Mr. Lord did was what any investigative reporter is supposed to do.  He investigated.  Specifically, he looked at the White House logs that were available to him - and everyone else.  And he noted the timing of the anti-Tea Party assault from the Inspector General's report which was available to him - and everyone else.

There are only two logical explanations for other investigative reporters - including those at all the major networks, at the NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times, etc. etc. etc. - not finding exactly the same thing Mr. Lord did:

-Either they didn't look - which means they did not do the basic work any investigative reporter should do,

-or, even worse, they found this information, and buried it.

Help me out here:  which of those two is the good one?

Thank you Jeffrey Lord for doing what you are supposed to do.  And shame on the others who either were too lazy or unprofessional to do what you did, or too ethically challenged to report the same thing that you found out.

That said, however, regardless of who found this information, there it is.  Right on the square, for everyone to see.

NOW what will mainstream media do with it?

-Will they report it?

-Will they expand upon it by seeking out interviews with President Obama and/or Colleen Kelley to find out what they discussed?  (NOTE:)  If you're wondering just how partisan Colleen Kelley is, read Andrew Stiles' piece at nationalreview.com).

-Or will they assume that, since relatively few people read American Spectator compared to how many rely on the networks and major papers for news, most folks won't know about this meeting so they can just bury it and do Barack Obama another favor - roughly the 47,684th such favor they have bestowed on him since this sorry Presidency started?

Oh, wait.  I forgot.  There is a third possible explanation.  That this is just a coincidence.  That the meeting with Kelley, and the decision one day later to go after groups most likely to oppose Barack Obama, was just an amazing confluence of random circumstance.  If you are buying that, then please signify by saying "I have first row tickets to the unicorn races tonight, which are being held in Munchkinland and run by the Kung Fu Panda Foundation".

Anyone?

THE PROTOCOLS OF THE ELDERS OF ZION: A REMINDER

Ken Berwitz

This morning, my wife asked me if I have ever heard anything about Japanese people, as a general precept, being more anti-semitic than others.

I told her that, while I wasn't sure, I did recall that The Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion has, for many years, been a big seller in Japan.  This, of course, tells us nothing about how individual Japanese people feel about Jews, but it does suggest that a great many people in Japan think the information it contains is real.

Well, it isn't.  And since my wife's question opens the door, I think I will remind people of where "The Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion" came from.

"The Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion" had its start in 1864, when a French writer named Maurice Joly wrote "The Dialogue In Hell Between Machiavelli and Montesquieu" - a satire, which talked about the ultimate power of the state over the individual.

"The Dialogue In Hell..." was written as a critique of Napoleon III (nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte), who ruled France at that time, and whom Joly opposed.  The story had nothing whatsoever to do with Jews, either positive or negative.  But, as you will see, much of "The Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion" was plagiarized directly from it.

Next, we move to 1868, when the novel "Biarritz" was written by German writer Hermann Goedsche, a virulent anti-Semite who used the pseudonym of Sir John Retcliffe.  "Biarritz" incorporated (plagiarized is more like it) copious material from Joly's "The Dialogue In Hell...".  But, in keeping with his animus toward Jews, Goedsche added a chapter in which a secret meeting between representatives of the 12 tribes of Israel was held in a Prague cemetery - supposedly the same kind of meeting which took place every 100 years - to discuss the long-term goal of Jewish world domination.  Again, I remind you that this was a fictional work.

Now, fast-forward to the 1890's.  In Russia, a tract called "The Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion" came into existence.  No one knows for sure who wrote "The Protocols", but it has been attributed either to Matvei Golovinsky or Pyotr Rachkovsky - probably Golovinsky .  Regardless of its source,  "The Protocols..." was a plagiarism, which combined elements of the Joly and Goedsche/Retcliffe books -- except, instead of being religion-neutral as the Joly book was, or cointaining just one Jew-related chapter a la Goedsche, the entire piece was written as the blueprint for a secret Jewish plot against the world.

"The Protocols" was enthusiastically received in Russia - not surprising given that it was published during a time when anti-Jewish sentiment consumed the country, causing many Jews to flee (my great grandparents on both sides among them).  Who cared if the material was real or not;  if it said Jews were devious conspirators, that was just fine.

Thereafter, its faux-legitimacy having been established, "The Protocols..." was published as non-fiction around the world - and continues to be published right up to, and including, the present day.  It is especially popular in Muslim countries, but is available, and believed, to one extent or another just about everywhere else as well.

No matter how many times this plagiarized forgery is debunked, it continues to be read, and to be accepted as fact.

That, folks, is where The Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion came from.

Ok, back to politics.

AN OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TRIUMPH

Ken Berwitz

With all the failures, all the controversies and all the scandals swirling around Barack Obama and his co-conspira...er, cohorts, I feel the administration's triumphs should be noted as well.

In that connection, here is what Associated Press CEO Gary Pruitt had to say to Bob Schieffer on "Face The Nation" yesterday:

"I think that it will hurt journalism.  In fact we're already seeng some impact.  Already, officials that would normally talk to us, and people we talk to in the normal course of news-gathering, are already saying to us that they're a little reluctant to talk to us.  They fear that they will be monitored by the government.  So we're already seeint it.  It's not hypothetical, we're actually seeing impact already"

There you go.  Stifling the free flow of information to protect the backsides of Barack Obam and his cohorts.

Mission Accomplished.

Who says the Obama administration has not had its successes?

THE CONSEQUENCES OF WHOLESALE AMNESTY

Ken Berwitz

I don't know how many blogs I have written over the years, pointing out that a policy of wholesale amnesty for illegal aliens is going to cost the jobs of legal US citizens - especially Black citizens.  I would think it has been well over a dozen.

Well, as you will see below, I'm far from the only one who is speaking out, nor is the issue I have talked about the only one that should make us think twice about amnesty on the massive scale this country is headed for.

Excerpted from Stephan Dinan's article in today's Washington Times:

The Senate's immigration bill will raise national security risks and the Obama administration will do little more than "rubber-stamp" illegal immigrants into the program, endangering Americans, says the labor union representing the 12,000 employees who will have to approve the applications.

Kenneth Palinkas, president of the American Federation of Government Employees Council 119, which represents officers and staff at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, will deliver a damning critique of the Senate bill Monday, according to a copy of his statement obtained by The Washington Times.

The union becomes the second key Homeland Security Department labor group to oppose the bill. Its opposition dents the bill and deals a blow to the AFL-CIO - the coalition of labor unions that has put major legislative muscle behind the bill this year but is seeing its members peel off.

"The legislation was written with special interests - producing a bill that makes the current system worse, not better,"
Mr. Palinkas' remarks say. The bill "will damage public safety and national security and should be opposed by lawmakers."

That was the same complaint made by Chris Crane, chief of the union representing agents and officers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Mr. Crane has said the Senate bill would hurt ICE agents' ability to enforce the law.

Their warnings could carry weight with lawmakers worried about a repeat of the amnesty in 1986, when hundreds of thousands of immigrants defrauded the system. All sides say they want to avoid the same scenario.

The latest statistics show that the administration is approving almost every application it receives: 99.2 percent of all applications decided through the end of April, according to numbers released Friday.

About 500,000 applications have been submitted in the 8 months the deferred action has been available. Of those, 291,859 have been approved while 2,352 have been denied. The rest are still in processing.

The action is seen as a test-run should Congress pass the Senate's legalization bill, which would apply to a broad swath of 11 million illegal immigrants estimated to be in the U.S.

Yes, as there are enormous law enforcement issues involved with such a wholesale amnesty.  But, to me, an even bigger issue is the impact it will have on employment.

I wonder how many of them voted for Barack Obama without thinking through the implications of his immigration policy?  I wonder how many US workers in fields such as construction, agriculture, the hospitality industry, etc. understand what it will mean if millions of Mexicans - a great many who will compete with them for those very same jobs - are given legal status.

I wonder how many AFL-CIO members realize that the reason this union is so hot to trot for amnesty, is that it will mean many, many more entry level workers, at the bottom end of the scale, with pensions way off in the future.  But what will this huge influx do to the current workers, who are legal, always have been legal, and thought they were playing by the rules?

I wonder how many Black workers who ran, not walked, to re-elect Barack Obama will lose their jobs to amnestied illegals.  And when it happens - which is an inevitability as things now stand - who will they blame?  Republicans?  President Bush?

I wonder how many Black citizens realize that, by giving amnesty to virtually every illegal, Democrats as a party are showing that they care less about Black workers than they do about all those newly legal Mexicans - the ones who will owe Democrats big-time when they are able to vote (which, you can bet, will be the next order of business).  After all, why should the Democrat Party worry about Black votes, when they get almost all of them in every election?  Politically, there is no reason to do a thing for a segment which votes this monolithically.

That said, I feel sorry for the people who will be affected by this policy, despite how many of them voted for the man who, along with his Democrat cohorts, has put it in place.  They are going to suffer for it.  But the harsh reality is that elections have consequences.  And this is a huge one.

Maybe it will cause some of these folks to think things over in a very different way next time.  Sadly, however, for many of them it will be too late.

Zeke ..... ...... ..... Not mentioned in the current debate: . . . 1) The "11 million illegals" was an "estimate" (made up number) from 5 years ago. ... What about all the 'new' illegals since then. ...... ..... 2) Once a paperless (undocumented) squatter is given legal residence, they THEN can legally bring in their entire extended family. .... .... 3) Illegals DO take enormous social services --- schools, hospitals (how they gonna pay for ObamieKare?), prisons (something like 40 % of federal prisoners are illegals), gangs and drug distribution (MS 13 and friends). ... ...... BACK IN THE USSR?

Ken Berwitz

I have, in many blogs over the past four years, talked about Barack Obama "Chavezing" the United States.

I may have been too kind.

I'm sure you'll see what I mean, when you read the first three paragraphs of Ann E. Marimow's article for the (usually Obama-friendly) Washington Post:

When the Justice Department began investigating possible leaks of classified information about North Korea in 2009, investigators did more than obtain telephone records of a working journalist suspected of receiving the secret material.

They used security badge access records to track the reporters comings and goings from the State Department, according to a newly obtained court affidavit. They traced the timing of his calls with a State Department security adviser suspected of sharing the classified report. They obtained a search warrant for the reporters personal e-mails.

The case of Stephen Jin-Woo Kim, the government adviser, and James Rosen, the chief Washington correspondent for Fox News, bears striking similarities to a sweeping leaks investigation disclosed last week in which federal investigators obtained records over two months of more than 20 telephone lines assigned to the Associated Press.

In reading the above, please remember that the Department of Justice is headed by the disgraceful toady, liar and Obama sock-puppet eric holder -- who Mr. Obama assured us he has "complete confidence" in as recently as just last week.

And given what holder apparently has been doing for this woeful administration - i.e. attempting to control the press by any means, without regard to ethics or, it seems to me, the law itself - who can blame him?

This is how our so-called Department of Justice operates?  What country are we in?  Is this the United States' Department of Justice, or the USSR's Glavlit

In the era of Barack Obama and eric holder, sometimes it is hard to tell one from the other.

THE LYING WHITE HOUSE LIES CONTINUE TO GROW

Ken Berwitz

The lie count is growing by the minute.

Now we have this, excerpted from Peter Nicholas' article at the Wall Street Journal:

In the week of April 22, the Office of the White House Counsel and its head, Kathryn Ruemmler, were told by Treasury Department attorneys that an inspector general's report was nearing completion, the White House official said. In that conversation, Ms. Ruemmler learned that "a small number of line IRS employees had improperly scrutinized certainorganizations by using words like 'tea party' and 'patriot,' " the official said.

President Barack Obama said last week he learned about the controversy at the same time as the public, on May 10, when an IRS official revealed it to a conference of lawyers. The president's statement drew criticism, focusing attention on his management style and whether he has kept himself sufficiently informed about the agencies under his authority.

Do you believe Barack Obama was not told about this until a week or so ago.  Can you possibly be that naive and/or that unconditionally obeisant to him?

Not me.

If Barack Obama's chief White House Counsel was told about the IRS scandal a month ago, DO NOT tell me Barack Obama was still unaware of it three weeks later.  That doesn't even smell good enough to qualify as BS.

The lies continue.  This serially dishonest administration's story is shifting faster than a flag in a wind tunnel.

Where will it lead?  Know one knows.  Yet.

THE LIE-RS SCANDAL: DEEPER BY THE DAY

Ken Berwitz

This is for anyone who thinks, even for a split second, that the Lie-RS scandal is getting anything but worse.

Excerpted from Charles C. Johnson's blog at dailycaller.com:

The "charity" run by President Barack Obama's half-brother that was fast-tracked for IRS tax-exempt status is based at a Virginia UPS store, according to its website.

The organization's IRS filings list another Virginia address that is actually a drug rehab center where the foundation does not appear ever to have been based.

The Barack H. Obama Foundation is run by Abon'go "Roy" Malik Obama, the half-brother of Barack Obama.

As first reported by The Daily Caller, the foundation was speedily approved for IRS exemption by Lois Lerner, the IRS senior official at the center of the targeting of conservative organizations that have waited over two years to receive tax exempt status. (RELATED: IRS official Lerner speedily approved exemption for Obama brothers 'charity')

The charity was even given retroactive tax-exempt status despite never having bothered to apply for it. And its history of soliciting donations before receiving tax-exempt status was apparently overlooked.

How deep does this scandal go?  The answer seems to be indeterminate - there is no bottom here.

Will Mr. Obama now trot out another phony flak like Dan Pfeiffer to tell us this was a mistake?  A coincidence?  That President Obama didn't have a thing to do with it/didn't know a thing about it?

Will Jay Carney serve up another hot steamy load of BS that nobody in the entire press corps believes for a minute?

This is ugly beyond belief.  Is it ugly enough to bring Barack Obama down?

Stay tuned.

THE OKLAHOMA TORNADO

Ken Berwitz

I'm not much on praying.  But let the people in the Oklahoma tornado's path - with a special hope for the children in that elementary school - be found alive and well.

==========================================

UPDATE:  Horrible news.  37 dead so far, with the total certain to grow.

==========================================

FURTHER UPDATE:  Over 50 dead now, including at least 7 children.  I won't be updating this anymore, I don't have the heart.

THE "HUMOR" OF LIZZ WINSTEAD

Ken Berwitz

I've always found it fascinating that some of the nastiest, most bitter, obnoxious characters in show business do comedy.

lizz winstead, who is involved with, among other things, The Daily Show, is one of them.

Why do I say this?  Lots of reasons....but this latest one, a twitter comment, is all you'll need:

"This tornado is in Oklahoma so clearly it has been ordered to only target conservatives"

That is humor?  People are dead or dying.  Schoolchildren are still unaccounted for and may or may not have survived.  Lives are ruined.  And winstead tosses out a snide, sick "joke" like this?

What a hate-filled pig.  What an ugly, disgusting sack of shit.
