ANOTHER OBAMA "FOREIGN POLICY TRIUMPH"

Ken Berwitz

Margaret Thatcher served as the Britain's Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990.  She was as staunch an ally of the United States as anyone could find anywhere.

Yet President Obama has decided not to send any member of his administration to attend Ms. Thatcher's funeral.  Not a one, even though the Queen of England and heads of state from around the world will be there.

Here is the headline, and sub-heads, of the London Daily Mail's incredulous article on the Obama snub:

Obama's snub to Thatcher: President won't send envoy to funeral - and leaves it to her old allies from the Reagan era

  • President Obama made decision not to send a member of his administration before yesterday's bombings in Boston
  • Instead, Reagan's former Secretary of State George Shultz, a key ally of Baroness Thatcher, will attend
  • Leaders from all over the world will be in attendance at the large-scale commemoration on Wednesday

Can Barack Obama possibly be this dense about foreign policy?  Can he even spell foreign policy?

ARMED GUARDS AND ID REQUIREMENTS

Ken Berwitz

In watching the reports from Boston on NBC this morning, the commentator noted that there are armed guards everywhere, and IDs are being required to get in and out of certain places - including, I think, the hotel he was staying at.

It occurs to me that, in the aftermath of this horrible attack, it should remembered why they are necessary:

-Armed guards are necessary to protect the public from violent individuals and groups, who are perfectly willing to break the law in committing their violent acts.

-IDs are necessary to identify who is attempting to enter the places in question, to minimize or, if possible, eliminate entry by people who should not be there.

Please remember those last two sentences.  You will see them again in this blog.

PRESIDENT OBAMA'S CONCERN LEVEL

Ken Berwitz

Here is a picture of President Obama talking to FBI Director Mueller about the terrorist attack in Boston.

Do you believe body language indicates concern level?

If so, what does sitting back and reclining, with legs crossed, indicate about President Obama's concern level?

BOB W That he has to piss!! and he is thinking about the next JZ CONCERT (04/16/13)

Zeke .. ...... ...... Ken, . . Very insightful commentary. ..... ..... You nailed it. ....... (04/16/13)

THE MCCONNELL TAPES: A QUICK QUESTION

Ken Berwitz

Last week a tape surfaced of Senator Mitch McConnell and his people discussing opposition research about Ashley Judd, the actress who was considering (and then decided against) running against Mr. McConnell.

The fact that the tape a) was illegally made and b) had nothing incriminating on it did not stop a great many in our wonderful "neutral' media from trying as best they could to make something of it.

My question:  Aren't these the same media which largely either ignored or condemned the video tapes from James O'Keefe's Project Veritas, which showed how easy it is to commit voter fraud - including the incredible spectacle of a young, bearded White man coming into middle-aged, unbearded, Black US Attorney General eric holder's own voting location claiming to be him, and being told he could go right in and vote?

Funny how that works......

THE JIHADISTS AMONG US

Ken Berwitz

As you may know, a Saudi National is being questionned about the Boston terrorist attack.  And an apartment in Revere, Massachussets which, according to reports, this person of interest lived in, has been searched, with possible evidentiary material taken from it.

Should we conclude that the perpetrator of this despicable crime against humanity is a Muslim jihadist?  No, of course not.  We do not know one way or the other yet.  Not that it has stopped some people from pretending otherwise - very much including the dirty bastards I referred to in yesterday's blog, who couldn't wait to downplay the prospect that this attack was jihadist in nature and, instead, try to pin it  - with no evidence whatsoever - on "right wingers", thus stereotyping millions and millions of people whose only "crime" is not sharing their political views.

By contrast to these execrable fools, Robert Spencer, writing for frontpagemag.com, has written an intelligent, thoughtful explanation of the jihadist issue.  Here is a key paragraph which shows his thinking on the subject:

Such reactions were illustrative of the general mainstream media avidity to downplay and even deny outright that there really is a jihad threat at all. Ultimately, however, whether or not this Saudi (who has been identified as being in the U.S. on a student visa) was involved in the attack or not, and whether or not this Boston Marathon bombing was a jihad attack at all, the jihad against the U.S. still rages.  Jihadists worldwide have made their hatred for Americans, and determination to murder them in the name of Allah, abundantly clear on numerous occasions. If the Boston terror bombings turn out to have been perpetrated by someone else, this doesn't mean that violent jihadists have disappeared. Jihad is already here in the United States, as we saw not only on 9/11, but in the Fort Hood jihad murders, the attempted Times Square bombing, the Portland Christmas tree bomb plot, and so many others. There have been over 20,000 jihad attacks worldwide since 9/11; the denial that dominates the media and government response to those attacks only ensures that such jihad attacks will become ever more common stateside.

Exactly right.

Maybe this was the act of a Muslim terrorist and maybe it was not.  But, regardless, we cannot ever forget that there are Muslim terrorists among us, who have attempted terrorist attacks for years.  And, as 9/11 and Fort Hood so horrifically showed, they have had their "successes" at doing so.

We downplay this reality at our own peril.

THE SHAMELESSNESS OF STENY HOYER

Ken Berwitz

I used to respect Democrat House Minority Whip steny hoyer.  As of today that respect no longer exists.

Excerpted from Tony Lee's blog at breitbart.com:

In responding to a question about whether Monday's bombings would force Congress to address the sequester, Hoyer said, "I think there are multiple reasons for ensuring that we invest in our security -- both domestic and international security."

Hoyer went on to say  that the country should not pursue "an irrational, across-the-board policy of cutting the highest priorities and the lowest priorities essentially the same percentage."

"I think this is another proof of that--if proof is needed, which I don't think frankly it is," Hoyer said, in reference to the Boston Marathon bombings.

I don't know who asked that asinine question in the first place, but here is the one and only acceptable answer:  "This was a terrorist attack.  A great many people are dead and injured, with many of the injuries terribly severe.  It is not a time to talk about the sequester, and that question is completely out of line."

But isn't what hoyer did at all.  Instead, he used the question as an opportunity to connect the attack with the sequester - without exactly saying it in so many words, but making his point perfectly clear.

As if the sequester had even one millionth of one percent to do with it, which it absolutely, unequivocally does not.

It is a dirty, weaselly little rhetorical trick to do that.  And one that hoyer is far from alone in using.  Illustratively, John Kerry used to put out proclamations on St. Patrick's Day which, without saying it in so many words, made his Irish ancestry perfectly clear to the many Irish voters in Massachussets -- even though Kerry does not have one drop of Irish blood.

There are many reasons that I dislike John Kerry, so his BS about being Irish was not a game changer for me.

But, until now, while not a big fan, I did have a good deal of respect for steny hoyer.

Not any more.

A HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREETING

Ken Berwitz

With all the bad news today, I do not want to let April 16th pass without something good to blog about - in this case, very good.

Today is the 65th birthday of the founding of Israel - a true democracy, our staunchest ally by far in that part of the world.....and the source of so many advances in medicine, science, technology, agriculture and the arts that my fingers hurt at the thought of typing out even a fraction of them.

And that, of course, is before we get to the advances in military technology it either creates outright or partners with the USA on, which help keep both countries safe.

So happy birthday to the state of Israel.  And may it have many, many more.

IS THIS THE BOMBER?

Ken Berwitz

I will not post the sequence of pictures that title refers to, but will instead refer you to Jim Hoft's blog at gatewaypundit.com.

I cannot tell if there is anything to the pictures you will see there...but hope that more intuitive folks than me, with equipment that can zero in on the detail, will be taking a close look.

Did Hoft's source uncover the bomber?  Your call.
