GOSNELL II?

Ken Berwitz

Do we have kermit gosnell II - also in the greater Philadelphia area?

Read this excerpt from Wendy Saltzman's piece at ABC News' local affiliate (not ABC national, of course) and decide for yourself:

A local abortion clinic is under fire, facing allegations of unsafe and unsanitary conditions.

A series of emergency calls made from the Planned Parenthood of Delaware this year are raising concerns about what's happening behind the closed doors.

Two former nurses who both quit are speaking exclusively with Action News about what they saw inside.

Jayne Mitchell-Werbrich, former employee said, "It was just unsafe. I couldn't tell you how ridiculously unsafe it was."

Werbrich alleges conditions inside the facility were unsanitary.

"He didn't wear gloves," said Werbrich.

Another former employee, Joyce Vasikonis told Action News, "They were using instruments on patients that were not sterile."

The former nurses claim that a rush to get patients in and out left operating tables soiled and unclean.

Werbrich said "It's not washed down, it's not even cleaned off. It has bloody drainage on it."

"They could be at risk of getting hepatitis, even AIDS," added Vasikonis.

Both of these nurses said, they quit to protect their own medical licenses, stunned by what they called a meat-market style of assembly-line abortions.

Vasikonis said, "I felt I could be held liable if a patient was harmed."

"Planned Parenthood needs to close its doors, it's needs to be cleaned up, the staff needs to be trained, said Werbrich."

How does this read to you?  Like a benevolent, humanitarian source of women's services, or an abortion mill where you get 'em in and get 'em out as quickly as possible so the $$$$$ keeps coming by the bucketloads?

Well, at least no one is accused of murdering live, out-of-the-womb babies.  At least not yet.

Now:  will this be considered newsworthy enough for mainstream media to cover?  To report something that (gasp!) reflects negatively on Planned Parenthood - which they have treated as a protected species all these years?

Check the national news tonight and see.

THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Ken Berwitz

Today's quote is actually almost a week old, but I just read it a few moments ago.  It was stated last Tuesday on the floor of the house....and should have floored anyone with a brain in his or her head.

From the supersedingly ridiculous Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), we have this pearl of wisdom:

"Don't condemn the gangbangers, they've got guns that are trafficked -- that are not enforced, that are straw purchased and they come into places even that have strong gun laws.

"Why? Because we don't have sensible gun legislation.

"'I'm going to agree with my friends on the other side of the isle. Our Republican friends, let's enforce the gun laws that we have - - who would run away from that?  That's a sensible proposition. Put a resolution on the floor of the House - - lets enforce gun laws that we have."

For anyone who uses even a small amount of logic and/or common sense, this is probably unintelligible.  So, as someone who, in the course of writing about politics, often has to shut both down, let me try to interpret.

Ms. Lee is saying that gangbangers - i.e. members of gangs who commit violent crimes with guns - should not be condemned.  The reason they should not be condemned is that the guns they get illegally, and use illegally, can be obtained regardless of the gun laws.  But if we had sensible gun legislation, they would not be getting and using the guns illegally.

So she favors enforcing the gun laws that we have, just like Republicans say (nice touch, implicating Republicans in this labyrinth of lunacy), by putting out a resolution out that says we should enforce existing laws.

Except, since she also said that we don't have sensible gun legislation, enforcing the gun laws that we already have inherently cannot make any difference.  So maybe we should just pretend she didn't say it.

And since Ms. Lee is on record as saying that we should not condemn gangbangers who buy and use illegal guns, maybe she will be agreeable to co-sponsoring a floor resolution which commends them instead.  Maybe we can have a National Gangbanger Appreciation Da....er, maybe not.  Forget that one too.

I've often said that the competition for dumbest member of the House of Representatives is fierce.  But Sheila Jackson Lee is clearly in the running.

And now she can add a "win" in our "quote of the day' competition to her credentials.  Many congratulations, I'm sure.....

CONGRATULATIONS (SORT OF) TO CBS'S "THIS MORNING" SHOW

Ken Berwitz

Congratulations, of a sort, are owed to CBS's "This Morning" show.

The reason?  According the Media Research Center (mrc.org), it covered the kermit gosnell trial this morning.

Why would covering a story of this significance be cause for congratulations?  Because it is the first coverage of this story by any of the three network morning shows since the trial began..

kermit gosnell, a "man" (if that term even fits) stands accused of mass murder, and other crimes so grisly that it would turn a butcher's stomach, and all three of the networks black out any mention of it?

Would it be fair to conclude the fact that gosnell - albeit in as disgusting, filthy, dangerous and all too often murderous way - performed abortion "services'', and therefore was a saint on earth to our thoroughly compromised media, had anything to do with it?

I'm pretty sure you already know my opinion on the subject.  What's yours?

Here, again, courtesy of mrc.org, is a transcript of this first-and-only network coverage:

CHARLIE ROSE: The gruesome trial of an abortion provider resumes this morning in Philadelphia. Dr. Kermit Gosnell is charged with killing a female patient and seven babies.

NORAH O'DONNELL: His name may not be familiar to you, and that makes some abortion opponents angry. This case has suddenly blown up into a political firestone -  firestorm, rather.

Jan Crawford is in Washington. Jan, good morning.

[CBS News Graphic: "Abortion Doctor Trial: 72-Year-Old Facing Capital Murder Charges"]

JAN CRAWFORD: Well, good morning, Charlie, Norah. We want to warn you that some of the details you're about to hear are very disturbing. This week, prosecutors will continue to call witnesses, as they seek the death penalty against Dr. Gosnell. So far, several patients and about a half dozen former employees have testified, and there are almost no words to describe their allegations about what happened inside that clinic.

CRAWFORD (voice-over): It started three years ago, as a federal investigation into prescription drug sales. But inside the Philadelphia abortion clinic of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, law enforcement encountered a grisly scene. Last month, the case finally went before a jury.

WALT HUNTER (from KYW-TV report, March 18, 2013): His abortion clinic - a 'house of horrors' - filled with stray cats and animal waste 47 fetuses piled into a freezer.

CRAWFORD: Prosecutors said that routine drug raid was something much more serious.

HUNTER: The doctor, charged in the murder of a woman during a botched abortion, as well as murders of seven babies born alive.

CRAWFORD: The allegations stunned the city. An established clinic operating for more than 30 years and drawing patients from across the country was, prosecutors allege, a 'house of horrors', where Gosnell performed late-term abortions after 24 weeks and murdered babies who survived the procedure. The conditions inside the clinic, graphically detailed in the grand jury report, were squalid unsterilized equipment that infected women with venereal disease, and untrained workers performing procedures and sedating patients.

SETH WILLIAMS, PHILADELPHIA DISTRICT ATTORNEY (from January 19, 2011 press conference): The grand jury went to the scene, wearing hazmat suits.

CRAWFORD: Gosnell was the target of multiple complaints to the state medical board, but state officials had not inspected the clinic since 1993. Gosnell, on trial for his life, says he's not guilty.

WALT HUNTER, KYW-TV REPORTER: Doctor Gosnell-

CRAWFORD: Walt Hunter has covered the case since 2010 for CBS News' Philadelphia station KYW.

HUNTER: There are images and details of this story that I am never going to be able to wash out of my mind.

CRAWFORD: Hunter broke the original story. He is now covering the trial, where clinic employees have begun to testify.

HUNTER: You can look at the skyline of Philadelphia and some of the top medical facilities in the entire country right from the front of that clinic. This was not hidden away.

CRAWFORD: But outside the state, few have even heard about the allegations against Gosnell, because his trial has received little national news coverage. CBS News reported on the story at the time it broke in 2011. Just last week, a column in USA Today accused the media of ignoring the story because what it called a bias in favor of abortion rights. Those charges went viral on Twitter, and were picked up by Republicans in Congress.

REP. CHRIS SMITH, (R), NEW JERSEY (from speech on House floor): Will the decades-long national news media cover-up of the brutality and the violence of abortion methods ever end?

CRAWFORD: Criminal defense attorney William Brennan has been involved in many high-profile trials, and even represented Gosnell until the drug case became a murder case.

WILLIAM BRENNAN, CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY: A case involving a medical doctor charged with eight counts of murder would seem to me that just that fact pattern would - would make national news.

CRAWFORD (on-camera): But looming over this trial is, of course, the debate over abortion rights. Opponents say it illustrates the brutality of abortion and how it's taking a human life; while supporters of abortion rights who have condemned Dr. Gosnell say it highlights the need for clean, safe places for women to have legal abortion. Charlie and Norah?

ROSE: Jan Crawford, thanks.

Let me end with notes to the three networks:

-To CBS:  your report repeatedly points out that this story should have been, but was not, covered by mainstream media.  So why, if you know this so well, did you spend a month not covering it?

-To ABC, and the bottom dwellers over at NBC:  Maybe, at some point, if you'd like to pretend you are journalists instead of pro-abortion propagandists, you can follow CBS's much-too-belated lead and give it a try.

LARRY KUDLOW ON THE OBAMA BUDGET

Ken Berwitz

Larry Kudlow's latest commentary explains to us, in plain layman's terms, why the Obama budget is a mess and what should be done instead.

Here are the first three paragraphs.  My guess is that they will encourage you to read the rest:

No matter how you slice the Obama budget pie, the inescapable fact is that the president wants to get rid of the roughly $1 trillion budget-cutting sequester and substitute in a $1 trillion-plus tax hike. In other words, more spending, more taxing. Growth-busting. The GOP should just say no.

And let me provide some counsel to my Republican friends in Washington, in particular in the House. Balanced budgets dont create growth. This mantra is wrong. Its growth that creates balanced budgets.

Cut spending? Thats a pro-growth measure. Lower tax rates? Another pro-growth measure. The combination of limited government and true tax reform will balance the budget soon enough, with government coming in at a smaller share of GDP while sufficient investment and work incentives get growth moving towards the 4 or 5 percent range.

THE BOSTON BOMBINGS

Ken Berwitz

I will not yet blog about the three bombs (one of which was detonated by the police before it did further damage) which - so far - have exploded near the finish line of the Boston marathon.  It is too chaotic, and early reports are too inaccurate for it to make any sense.

But my heart goes out to the dead (two reported so far, but I can't imagine the number won't rise) and dozens injured - some grotesquely.

I'll write more later on, when the extent of carnage is clearer and - possibly - when we have a better idea of who did this impossibly terrible thing.

DIRTY LEFT WING BASTARDS

Ken Berwitz

From Scott Whitlock's blog at newsbusters.org:

Nicholas Kristof on Monday quickly used the explosions in Boston for political gain, linking the Republican Party to the horrific act. At 4:10pm, Kristof tweeted, "explosion is a reminder that ATF needs a director. Shame on Senate Republicans for blocking apptment." [

From Matt Hadro's blog at newsbusters.org:

PETER BERGEN (CNN National Security Analyst): Sure. Although I'm reminded of Oklahoma City which was a bombing, which was initially treated as a gas explosion. So first reports are often erroneous. But the fact that there were two explosions - two bombings - one of the things I'd be looking at is once the device, if it is a device, is found, what kind of explosives were used? For instance, if it was hydrogen peroxide, this is a signature of al-Qaeda. If it was more conventional explosives, which are much harder to get a hold of now, that might be some other kind of right-wing extremists. We've seen a number of failed bombing attempts by al-Qaeda using bombs, (Unintelligible) and for instance, the Manhattan subway in 2009, Faisal Shahzad in 2010, the attempt to bring down Northwest Flight 253 over Detroit in 2009. But we've also seen other extremist groups, right-wing groups, for instance, trying to attack the Martin Luther King parade in Oregon in 2010.

From chris matthews', on tonight's Hardball show:

"Normally domestic terrorists, people, tend to be on the far right...I don't think Tax Day means a whole lot to the Arab world or Islamic world or the, certainly not to al Qaeda in terms of their world."

FYI:  there are reports that a Saudi national has been detained and is being questionned.  Obviously the police feel there are reasons to do this.

Personally, I don't know if the person being detained had anything to do with the bombings and - as I mentioned earlier in the day - I will wait to find out more, because initial reports on horrible events like this tend to be inaccurate.

Regarding the three people quoted above?  They do not know a thing about who planted those bombs.  But - without an iota of evidence in hand, only hearts filled with politically-based hatred - they are perfectly happy to make comments like these.

Dirty left wing bastards.  They can go straight to hell

THE VENEZUELAN ELECTION

Ken Berwitz

I'll make this short and sweet.

Nicolas Maduro, hugo chavez's hand-picked successor ran against Henriques Capriles, in an election where the chavez government eliminated virtually all of what used to be a free press, and also was in charge of overseeing the election itself.

Under these circumstances, Maduro won by maybe 1% of the vote?

I can't prove it - at least not yet - but in my mind there is about a 100% probability that Capriles won the election - and by a large margin.

I wonder if there will be a civil war over the so-called results.  I hope not, but the possibility is definitely there.

This election stinks like a dead whale washed up on the shore for three weeks during a heat wave.

NBC: NOTHING BUT CENSORSHIP

Ken Berwitz

I watched the first hour of Today this morning and, unless I missed it, there was no feature on the kermit gosnell mass murder trial.  Again.

NBC - and it is far from the only "news" venue - clearly is determined to bury this story.  Why?  Well, let's look at what other stories it has and has not  buried, and see if we can find an agenda.

-Operation Fast and Furious, with its hundreds dead and overt lying by the Attorney General of the United States?  Other than a few days, once in the past two years, an NBC viewer would not know this scandal exists.

-Benghazi, with its four dead and the unbelievable ineptitude of our state department, headed by Secretary of State Hillsary Clinton?  Buried the second they could.

-Gun control?  On average, at least one story a day.  Feature after feature after feature on it.

-Violent video games featuring mass killing, such as the ones Newtown killer adam lanza and Colorado movie theater killer james holmes watched (along with who knows how many other violent killers)?  Virtually no stories connecting them with the lanza and holmes massacres.

-And now the gosnell trial, in which he is accused of 8 murders, 7 of them newborn babies, and testimony has implicated him in at least 100 more such killings?  Not a word.

How do you not conclude that NBC is less a source of news than a source of news censorship?  How do you not conclude that NBC "news" reportage is based not on the news itself, but on its agenda - which is:

-Obama and his administration:  good, and must be protected even the economy stinks, unemployment is unsolved, ObamaCare is a disaster and the national deficit is impossibly high;

-Illegal immigration:  good, and must be protected, even if the admininistration lied to us about allowing guns to be sold to Mexican drug cartels, resulting in hundreds of deaths - at least two of them our own agents (Brian Terry and Jaime Zapata);

-Abortionists:  good, and must be protected, even when an abortionist is on trial as a mass murderer;

-Violent video games?  Maybe not good, but too much ad revenue to report about, so look the other way and report little or nothing about their possible influence on mass murders.  Ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching;

-Guns:  bad, so its open season on the NRA and the second amendment, as if lanza or holmes, or almost any of the other mass murderers were ever members of the organization, or cared about what the amendment stands for.

That is what NBC has devaluated itself into.  Nothing But Censorship.  And it is not alone...not by a long shot.

Oh, one other thing:  MSNBC's Morning Joe show actually provided some coverage today, and promises it will continue to do so from now on -- finally, after a month of looking the other way.  If that "quality" of coverage can put the parent company, NBC, to shame, then.....I'll leave you to finish this sentence yourself.

THE GOSNELL TRIAL: ADD IN RACISM

Ken Berwitz

Did you know there is a racial angle to the kermit gosnell trial?

I'm sorry, that's a silly question:  how could you, when until just a few days ago there was virtually no coverage of the trial at all and, even now, the coverage barely exists.

But, in case you are interested (and I can't understand how any decent human being would not be), in addition to apparently being a mass murderer, a serial lawbreaker who performed illegal late-term abortions on countless women using few if any acceptable medical or sanitary standards, kermit gosnell ran a racist organization.

There are many web sites now featuring material about the racial angle of what kermit gosnell did (though, as per usual, not mainstream media, which wants so desperately to bury everything about the gosnell trial).  Here is an excerpt from Richard Prince's article at theroot.com:

When the case broke in 2011, Jill Filipovic, who blogs as "Jill" on the Feministe site, wrote:

"Gosnell's clinic hadn't been reviewed by the Department of Health in 15 years. Members of his staff were unlicensed and not properly trained. And Gosnell knew that he could get away with offering sub-par care to women who he thought were less likely to complain - young women, immigrants, poor women and women of color."

Filipovic quoted Lori Adelman, who wrote in January 2011 on the Grio, "buried deep in articles describing 'bloodstained furniture' and 'jars packed with severed baby feet,' is a less gory but equally as horrifying insight that, at Dr. Gosnell's clinic, 'white women from the suburbs were ushered into a separate, slightly cleaner area' than Gosnell's regular clientele, which was comprised primarily of poor minority women, including many immigrants. Gosnell reportedly treated these white suburban clients to a more pleasant and sanitary experience because he believed they were 'more likely to file complaints' about substandard care."

Lovely.

If these reports are true, gosnell - himself Black - was perfectly happy to mistreat poor minority women, while giving White women with a few bucks in their pockets a (relatively speaking) more pleasant and more sanitary experience.

Was this because gosnell is a racist, who valued Black women less than White woman?  Was it because he was a money grasping pig who valued the color green more than either Black or White?  Some combination of the two?

Hey, I have a great idea for mainstream media.  How about COVERING THE TRIAL AND REPORTING ON THE TESTIMONY?  Then we might have a bit of a better understanding about what really happened.

But when Justin Beiber writing some stupid self-impressed comment in the guest register at the Ann Frank museum gets more coverage in one morning than some news venues have given the kermit gosnell trial in an entire month, you'll pardon me if I'm less than confident about mainstream media reversing field and acting like they actually employ professional journalists instead of paid NARAL propagandists.
