THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Ken Berwitz

Today's quote was originally stated in 1996, 17 years ago.  The reason I am bringing it back now is that it bears on the remarkably ghoulish comment by Planned Parenthood spokesperson alisa lapolt snow, who, last week, engaged in this exchange with Florida State Rep. Jim Boyd:

BOYD: "If a baby is born on a table as a result of a botched abortion, what would Planned Parenthood want to have happen to that child that is struggling for life?"

snow:  "We believe that any decision that's made should be left up to the woman, her family, and the physician," said Planned Parenthood lobbyist Snow.

In other words, Planned Parenthood's spokesperson stated, in so many words, that the life and death of a live baby, born and outside the womb, was nothing more than a should-I-or-shouldn't-I decision.  If that is not ghoulish I don't know what is.

This brings us to our quote of the day.  It also comes as the result of a public exchange - this one on the floor of the Senate between Rick Santorum (R-PA) and  barbara boxer (D-CA) (the video is here):

SANTORUM:  "I'd like to ask you, ask you, a question.  You agree that, once the child is born, is separated from the mother, that that child is protected by the Constitution and cannot be killed? Do you agree with that?"

boxer:  "I would make this statement.  That this constitution as it currently is, and some of you want to amend it to say that life begins at conception, I think that when you bring your baby home, when your baby is born, and there is no such thing as partial birth, the baby belongs to your family and has all the rights."

In other words, barbara boxer stated, in so many words, that - until out of the hospital and home - the life and death of a live baby, born and outside the womb, was nothing more than a should-I-or-shouldn't-I decision.  If that is not ghoulish I don't know what is.

Oh, did I use the same language for what boxer said that I used for what snow said?  Yes I did.  And the reason?  Because both are saying the same thing:  it is acceptable to kill a live, out-of-the-womb baby.

So congratulations, albeit 17 years belatedly, to barbara boxer, for being just as much of a ghoul, just as okay with infanticide, as alisa lapolt snow...and, based on his years-long opposition to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act (BAIPA), President Barack Obama.

How proud you all must be.

SEQUESTER WATCH

Ken Berwitz

It is day 33 of the sequester.

Do you feel any different?  Do you think anything has changed?  Do you think the country has gone to hell in a handbasket?

No?  Me neither.

But at least we have found an event that President Obama threatened to shut down, but did not:  the Easter egg roll.

How much did it cost for security to have something like 35,000 people on and around the White House lawn for this event?  I did not see an estimate, but I would guess that it could have kept the White House tours in business for months.

So why did the Easter egg roll go on as scheduled, while the White House tours remained shut down?

I don't know the answer.  I do know, however, that President Obama attends the Easter egg roll and it is heavily covered by media, which have the opportunity to show him smiling and mingling with similarly happy people, especially children.  I also know that, by contrast,  Mr. Obama does not attend White House tours, nor do they provide a major warm and fuzzy photo-op for him.

Could that possibly have something to do with why one took place and the other is shut down?  You decide.

President Obama and his fellow Democrats desperately need a crisis to "prove" what horrible consequences are coming down on us because of the sequester - a tiny percentage of forced cuts in our impossibly bloated deficit spending.

But, in the absence of any such crisis actually occurring, they have the opportunity to pick and choose which governmental functions are going to be affected.  And, unless I and many others are completely mistaken, they are exploiting that opportunity wherever they can.  So, you folks who came to Washington DC to tour the "People's House"?  Forget it.  Closed until further notice.

One other thing:  Between Barack Obama and the rest of his family, they have gone on more than one vacation a month this year, at the cost of millions upon millions of dollars to the US taxpayer.  And Joe Biden has gone on three vacations so far this year, at the cost of millions upon millions more.

Keep telling yourself:  you are not supposed to connect their vacation spending with the pain being inflicted by the sequester.  And, of course, golfing season is just around the corner, isn't it?  Try not to connect that as well.

Think of it as a test to see just how dumb, and/or how unconditionally committed to Obama & Co., you are.

Are you?

THE HAMAS CASH INFUSION

Ken Berwitz

As I hope you are aware, hamas is a terrorist group committed, in writing, to the annihilation of Israel and death to all Jews, both in and out of Israel.

But it takes money - lots of money - to keep the organization in artillery.  And, although Iran has been a huge benefactor over the years, UN sanctions have caused it to ease off on the money flow.

So who is making up the difference?

The answer?  Qatar.

That's right.  Qatar.  The supposedly westernized emirate which, not incidentally, owns al-jazeera - that wonderful "news" organization which just bought Current TV from al gore. The "news" organization which held a big on-air party for samir kuntar, the subhuman murderer who killed an Israeli man and then picked up the man's daughter and bashed her head against the rocks until what was left of her was dead.

Here is the beginning of Adam Kredo's blog at freebeacon.com:

Hamas has reelected a prominent Qatar-based official to head its inner circle, further solidifying ties between the terror group and the wealthy Islamic government, according to reports.

Longtime Hamas leader Khaled Meshal was reportedly reelected Monday for a fifth term to lead the terror group's external political body following a chaotic and muddled process that saw Meshal initially promising to step down.

Meshal and other Hamas officials were forced to flee the group's headquarters in civil war-ravaged Syria. He has since stationed himself in Qatar, which has emerged as Hamas' newest benefactor.

Qatar has pledged to give Hamas $400 million. The figure constitutes a critical new funding stream that will supplement major subsidies from Iran, which has lessened its financial support for Hamas as Western sanctions cripple its economy.

Meshal's selection is a sign the group has no plans to renounce terrorism or violence against Israel, Western experts say.

The election also shows that Hamas is reinforcing its worst tendencies rather than embracing reform...

So what do we have here?  A proudly terrorist group whose mission statement is vaporizing Israel and Jews, being stuffed with money from Iran, and now Qatar.

And, by the grace of al gore - who, I suppose, didn't get rich enough on his BS carbon credits - it now has what used to be gore's Current TV network to turn into al-jazeera, and become hamas's USA mouthpiece.

Thanks al.  I''m sure they're preparing a prominent spot for you on the Avenue of the Righteous:  not at the Yad Vashem memorial in Israel, but at hamas headquarters in Gaza.

Congratulations on making the big time.

THE END OF WARD CHURCHILL....OR IS IT?

Ken Berwitz

Harry: Does that mean, with the Stone gone, I mean, that Voldemort can never come back?

Dumbledore: Ah, I'm afraid there are ways in which he can return.

That exchange, between Harry Potter and Professor Albus Dumbledore, occurred in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone".  Harry believed, or at any rate hoped, that destroying the sorcerer's stone meant the evil Voldemort was gone forever.  But it was the sad duty of Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts School, to inform him that Voldemort could indeed come back.

Can the same be said for disgraced fraud ward churchill?

Right now, it would seem not, as indicated by the following excerpts from Eric Owens' article at dailycaller.com:

You remember Ward Churchill - he's the former University of Colorado ethnic studies professor who claimed that the United States deserved the September 11, 2001 attacks because of "ongoing genocidal American imperialism."

Well, he's been fighting a losing battle to get his job back ever since he was eventually fired for (unrelated) plagiarism and fabricated research.

On Monday, the United States Supreme Court rejected Churchill's appeal without comment.

Officials at the University of Colorado and David Lane, Churchill's attorney, both told the Daily Camera that the Supreme Court's decision effectively exhausts Churchill's legal options.

FYI:  although Mr. Owens' piece correctly quotes churchill, and correctly defines what at least are the ostensible reasons he was fired from the University of Colorado, it does not mention the other accusations against him...and there are quite a few, concerning his ethnicity (he apparently belongs to the same fantasy "tribe" as Elizabeth Warren), his military service, plagiarism regarding paintings of his.....I think you get the picture.

So we should be very happy that this is the end of ward churchill.  But is it?

To quote Professor Dumbledore,  "Ah, I'm afraid there are ways in which he can return".

Did you know that churchill continues to be a guest speaker at colleges and universities around the USA?  Maybe you did and maybe you didn't, but I'm betting it doesn't surprise you.

And now that he has become even more of a martyr to the left, would you be surprised to find him as a guest on cable news panels - say, for MSNBC, or RT (the USA-despising Russian cable news channel), al-jazeera, etc. etc. etc.?

No, left wing icons do not die.  And they don't fade away either.  So you can pretty much count on this despicable character to be in your face for years to come.

Too bad, Harry.  Too bad, Albus.  And too bad for the rest of us as well.

Zeke .... ..... Churchill was hired by U Colorado despite his NOT having a PhD. . . . .. After one year as associate professor, he was granted tenure (usually this requires 7 years, including significant publications). . . . . . Documents in Churchill's university personnel file show that he was granted tenure in a "special opportunity position." . . . . . . . . Churchill was fired for multiple counts of academic misconduct - - - - plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification - - - - by an eight to one vote by the University of Colorado's Board of Regents. (04/02/13)

free' I can recall a few times in my high school years marking the Native American box. I figured that both my parents were born in America, therefor I am a Native American. Aren't I? (04/02/13)

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Ken Berwitz

There is no truth to the rumor that this year's Yankee Old Timers game team will use the same lineup as the current team.

Thank you.
