A QUESTION, AND A LINE OF QUESTIONNING, FOR KERRY

Ken Berwitz

I don't know how I feel about Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, at least not yet.  But I love his question to John Kerry at this morning's Senate confirmation hearing:

"I agree with candidate Barack Obama who said in 2007 that the President doesn't have the power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack. I'd like to know if you agree with candidate Barack Obama or if you agree with President Barack Obama who took us to war in Libya without Congressional authority unilaterally?"

Helluva question.  And Paul's line of questionning from then on was excellent.

Here is the video of Paul's exchange with Kerry.  Take a look and decide for yourself who if either (or both) makes sense.

THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Ken Berwitz

From Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's testimony to the Senate Confirmation Committee:

"I take responsibility.  And nobody is more committed to getting this right."

Those were exactly the right words....except that, later, she answered a Republican senator this way:

"With all respect, the fact is we have four dead Americans.  Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they'd go kill some Americans.  (FLAILING ARMS, BANGING ON THE THE TABLE) What difference at this point does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, senator."

Translation:

-I take responsibiilty and no one is more committed to getting things right than me (pause for applause, genuflection and general fawning by Democrats and mainstream media, if you can tell the difference between them).

-However, since it happened a long time ago (during which I found ways of not testifying, which is why you are first hearing from me now, over four months later), it doesn't matter how it happened anymore, so why are you asking me about it?

-Besides, it is our job to figure out what happened - you know, the thing I just said doesn't make any difference - and to prevent it from ever happening again, which of course requires that we know what happened, but, as I keep pointing out, what's the difference? (pause for more applause, genuflection and general fawning by Democrats and mainstream media...if you can tell the difference between them.)

There you have it.  Classic Clintonese.  The kind of mealy-mouthed BS that would never survive even two seconds of media scrutiny if a Republican said it, but makes Hillary Clinton a rock star to those same media...just like it always has for hubby Bubba.

That said, there is good news:  Hillary Clinton is leaving her post as Secretary of State.

But there is also bad news:  President Obama, the man we re-elected in November, is replacing her with John Kerry.

More on this in the next blog.

Zeke .... So, what are you going to do ? Fire her ? .... .... 1) Why weren't US aerial Gun Ships, fighters 90 minutes away in Sicily not sent immediately ? .. 2) Why weren't infantry assets (Quick Reaction Force, Special Ops) not at least ASSEMBLED and READI ED ? ... 3) WHO was behind the "It was that nasty Video" & Spontaneous Demonstration lie ? .... 4) State spent nearly $100,000 in newspaper ads in North Africa, saying "Please don't be mad us because of the video". ... 4) WHO told the two ex-Seals to "Stand Down". .... 5) If State in DC was monitoring events Real Time --- how did this 'spontaneous demonstration' go on for 7 hrs and NOTHING WAS DONE ? ........ THE MARCH FOR LIFE GAME

Ken Berwitz

Here's a fun little game to play, which involves today's "March For Life" in Washington DC and around the country.

First, think about how much media coverage, for how long a period of time, the "Occupy Wall Street" crowd, consisting of a few hundred squatters in lower Manhattan's Zuccotti Park, was given by our wonderful "neutral" media.

Now consider how much coverage has been given until now to the anti-abortion "March For Life", currently in progress, which is scheduled for this time every year and typically draws crowds of somewhere in the neighborhood of 100,000 participants.

Next, over the weekend, note how much coverage was given to this year's march.

Then, see if you detect any difference in the relative coverage afforded each of these events.

Why do I think you already know the outcome of the game?

MY CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LOST TRIBE

Ken Berwitz

As regular readers know, I use the term "Lost Tribe" to describe the Jews, and non-Jews, who support Israel but have managed to concoct rationales to vote for Barack Obama anyway.

Here is their reward:

-First we have incoming Secretary of State:  John Kerry, who has made it clear he is willing to sell Israel straight down the river.  According to Wikileaks:

On a February trip to the Middle East, Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman John Kerry (D-MA) told Qatari leaders that the Golan Heights should be returned to Syria, that a Palestinian capital should be established in East Jerusalem as part of the Arab-Israeli peace process, and that he was 'shocked' by what he saw on a visit to Gaza.

Any negotiation has its limits, added Senator Kerry, and we know for the Palestinians that control of Al-Aqsa mosque and the establishment of some kind of capital for the Palestinians in East Jerusalem are not negotiable.

-Then there is incoming Secretary of Defense chuck hagel, who has made his hatred of Israel plain for at least the past decade.

-And, capping it off, is incoming CIA director John Brennan, who makes no pretense about the favored status he affords Islam - the same Islam which, according to hamas, fatah, hezbollah, etc. etc. etc. demands, as a religious duty, that Israel must cease to exist and its Jews must either be scattered elsewhere or dead - preferably dead.

To the Lost Tribe:  My congratulations.  I hope you are very proud of what you have aided and abetted.  And I'm sure that President Obama and his anti-Israel team of Kerry, hagel and Brennan are happy to express their personal gratitude...between gales of laughter at what suckers you are.

Four more years of this?  Great.  Just great.

PUTTING THE CONSTITUTION FIRST

Ken Berwitz

May this be the first in a long series of rulings that re-establish the constitution, rather than the Obama mindset, as the law of our land.

Excerpted from Stephen Dinan's piece at washingtontimes.com:

A federal appeals court has overturned President Obama's controversial recess appointments from last year, arguing he abused his powers and acted when the Senate was not actually in a recess.

The three-judge panel's ruling is a major blow to Mr. Obama. The judges ruled that the appointments Mr. Obama made to the National Labor Relations Board are illegal, and the board no longer has a quorum to operate.

But the ruling has even broader constitutional significance, with the judges arguing that the president's recess appointment powers don't apply to "intrasession" appointments - those made when Congress has left town for a few days or weeks.

The judges signaled the power only applies after Congress has adjourned sine die, which is a legislative term of art that signals the end to a long work period. In modern times, it means the president could only use his powers when Congress quits business at the end of a year

Hallelujah.

Not only does this inform the President, in plain-as-day-terms, that he has to stop acting as a Dictator rather than an elected official committed to the rule of law, but it also forces him to unstack the NLRB, which he has stuffed with nothing but union-approved members since taking office - people who would have had great difficulty passing a confirmation procedure.

Let the confirmations begin.

And keep the President of the United States within his constitutional boundaries.  What a pleasant change that will be.

FOR THE FEMINISTS IN THE HOUSE.....

Ken Berwitz

From a no-doubt triumphant Public Relations Ann, we have this:

I can't help thinking there is a men's version of the same cartoon.  But I'm not going to look for it because, if I found it, I doubt that I'd have the guts to put it up here.

WHO IS JOHN KERRY?

Ken Berwitz

Who is incoming Secretary of State John Kerry?

Let me make this short and sweet:  John Kerry is a far left ideologue who spent his 27 years in the senate supporting just about every left wing cause known to mankind and opposing just about every new advance in military technology, while achieving the dubious distinction of introducing and seeing through to passage, not one major legislative act.  Zero.  Zilch.  Nada.

That is who John Kerry is.  And, thanks to Barack Obama and his supporters, that is who will be running (ruining?) the State Department.

Four more years of this?  God help us.
