Be assured, please, that I do not blame President Obama for the actions of jared lee loughner.

But since so many of his left wing supporters have spent the last several days relentlessly telling us that rhetoric which incites violence pushed loughner to his actions, I thought I would show you what Mr. Obama said during the 2008 presidential campaign.

From the Wall Street Journal:

Mobster wisdom tells us never to bring a knife to a gun fight. But what does political wisdom say about bringing a gun to a knife fight?

Thats exactly what Barack Obama said he would do to counter Republican attacks If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun, Obama said at a Philadelphia fundraiser Friday night. Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. Ive seen Eagles fans.

The comment drew some laughs and applause. But it also struck a chord with his Republican rival. John McCains campaign immediately accused the Democratic candidate of playing the politics of fear. They also mentioned that Obama said he would use a gun that would be illegal under Obamas plans to cut down on illegal firearms.

FYI:  Mr. Obama said this months after loughner had been to a town hall meeting where he asked Rep. Giffords a question, she did not answer it to his satisfaction, and he made it clear he had it in for her.

So did President Obama cause the shooting?  Maybe a few of his left wing pals would like to answer that.

Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has a lot of opinions.  Dupnik also has an apparent belief that he doesn't just enforce the law, he creates it.  Illustratively, his refusal to enforce Arizona's immigration laws clearly disqualifies Dupnik from holding his current office.   But that is for Arizonans to deal with.

My problem with Dupnik is that there is a mass murderer in custody, there are 6 dead and 13 (that we know of) injured.  And he's spending his days doing media interviews.

I am asking in the name of simple decency:  Can Dupnik get off his opportunistic, partisan, effing soapbox and start acting like a sheriff?

Commenter "free" points out that Dupnik knew all about the shooter, jared lee loughner, for years, and speculates that he kept letting him off the hook because loughner's mother Amy (not sister, as my original post erroneously said) works for the county.  I don't know if that's true, but given the complete lack of professionalism Dupnik is displaying, it would not surprise me a bit.

Dupnik is a disgrace to law enforcement.  And Pima County is the worse for him being its sheriff.

Here is the beginning of an article about Rush Limbaugh's reaction to how the left is exploiting the Arizona shooting. It comes to us via an excerpt from an article by Steve Peoples, writing for rollcall.com

Is Limbaugh right or wrong?  Read it and decide for yourself:

Limbaugh Says Democrats Trying to Profit From Tragedy

Theres no indication that Rush Limbaugh will temper his political rhetoric in the wake of the violent weekend attacks in Arizona.

Speaking out for the first time since Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) was critically wounded and at least six people were killed, the conservative talk radio icon on Monday lashed out at Democrats and media outlets for trying to politicize the violence.

The Democratic Party, he said during his nationally syndicated radio program, as aired on the Tucson, Ariz., station 790 KNST, is a party that seeks to profit out of murder. He added that the political left openly wishes for such disaster in order to profit from it.

The desperate hope that the losers in November of 2010 had was that they could revitalize their political fortunes because of this unfortunate shooting of a Congresswoman in Arizona.

Nobody talks about [that] a Republican federal judge was killed, Limbaugh said, emphasizing the word Republican.

Its not the way we think. And we certainly dont look to these events to move our political agenda forward. But the left is depraved, empty, and without any political substance whatsoever, he said.

Limbaugh and other conservatives have seized on statements from Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, a Democrat who linked the attack to extreme political rhetoric in the media.

On Sunday, Dupnik called Arizona the tombstone of the United States for its lax gun laws and blasted the rhetoric about hatred, about mistrust of government, about paranoia of how government operates.

To try to inflame the public on a daily basis, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, has impact on people, especially who are unbalanced personalities to begin with, Dupnik said, without targeting any specific political ideologies or media outlets.

Limbaugh laughed as he told listeners about Dupniks party registration. He wants to tell people hes nonpartisan, he said.

There it is, without any editorial comment from me.  Your call.

free` Hard to disagree with anything Rush said. (01/11/11)

John Hinderaker of powerlineblog.com has written a pull-no-punches attack on New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, because of Krugman's dishonest, poorly researched, frankly idiotic comments about the Arizona shooting.

And he's 100% right to do it.

Here is an excerpt from the Hinderaker blog.  Read it, click on this link to read the entire blog, and see why:

Within hours after Jared Loughner's killing spree, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman went straight for the gutter, proclaiming, with no evidence whatsoever, that Loughner's act was in all likelihood "political," and going on to blame Republicans for the murders. I denounced Krugman's vile blog post here.

We now know that Loughner's murders were not political. He was deranged and had no coherent political philosophy. To the extent that he had any political beliefs at all, his friends describe him as left wing. He thought the Bush administration was behind the September 11 attacks. He has been more or less obsessed with Congresswoman Giffords since 2007, when he showed up at one of her events and asked something like, "What becomes of government when words have no meaning?" He was outraged that Giffords was unable to answer his question and, apparently, despised her from that point on. This, of course, was before the Tea Party movement existed and when Sarah Palin was the little-known governor of Alaska.

So Krugman's vicious smear was completely unfounded. Nevertheless, true to form, he has not backed off, let alone apologized. Instead, in his latest column he doubled down, claiming even more explicitly that Republicans somehow caused Loughner's murder spree, whether Loughner suspected it or not. As usual, Krugman's column is poorly reasoned and lacking in any perceptible factual support. It's just the wishful thinking of a rabid and hateful partisan. Others can take it apart line by line.

In the real world, a performance like this would render the writer persona non grata anywhere that facts and honesty are at all valued.

But this is the New York Times.  And, not surprisingly therefore, Krugman is a star.

That tells you plenty about what has happened to the New York Times, doesn't it?

Zeke .... .... It is unkind to criticize Mr Krugman for his gutter mentality. ..... .... If it weren't for the gutter, Paul would be homeless. ..... ..... ..... (01/11/11)

Here is another example of paralepsis (i.e. saying something while claiming not to say it) - this time by David Gregory of NBC's Meet The Press.  It comes to us via an excerpt from Mike Finch's article at frontpagemag.com.  The bold print is mine:

What a relief!  President Obama can pull FBI Director Mueller back from Arizona and call off the investigation into the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords.  The smoking gun has been found.

It is obvious after listening to the Sunday morning news shows that the shooter had been listening to conservative talk radio, was heavily influences by the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, loose gun laws in Arizona, and the hate discourse that is created by right wing organizations and politicians.  Sherlock Holmes has nothing over David Gregory.

Gregory in questioning newly elected Congressman Raul Labrador of Idaho, said I mention the Tea Party, not to assign blame, but.  Well, then why mention it?  By opening the discussion with that statement, Gregory, of course, is doing exactly what he says he isnt doing.  Assigning blame.  Gregorys performance this morning, from someone who once in awhile, shows signs of even handiness, was shameful.  Feeding the idea that this deranged idiot in Arizona was a Tea Party, Sarah Palin plant, is despicable.

A quick look at Loughners background shows that he read the Communist Manifesto, Mein Kampf, was anti-God, and if holds any political philosophy at all, would be classified as an extreme anarchist.  What in the fuzzy reaches of the minds of the parade of Democratic politicians and their lackeys in the mainstream media would connect that philosophy with Constitutional Conservatives?  It doesnt connect at all, but that is not the point, this is a teaching moment for the left.

Which is why, following immediately on the heels of their dissecting the causes of the shooting, the post counseling has already begun.  On Meet the Press, we got schooled on ethics, racial harmony, peace and justice by the Congressmen Cleaver and Grijalva and Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz.  We must tone down the criticism and our political discussion must become more civil or more violence will ensue.

Our heated discourse must give way to civility of yesterday.  By that of course, they must be speaking of the civility of Blood for Oil, Bush lied, people died the Jim Crow Republicans, Republican Nazis and the mantra that the religious right is more dangerous than the Taliban.  Yes, the nostalgia for those civil days of discourse makes me wistful.

We know what is happening of course.  Civility in politics means Conservatives agreeing with the Left, it calls for muted objections and ceding the moral high ground to the other side.  Then, and only then, we will all get along and have peace and civility in our politics.

Being lectured on civility by Cleaver - who lied about being spat on and called "nigger" before ObamaCare was voted on last year, Grijalva - a hardliner whose  pro-illegal partisanship makes him more of an advocate for Mexican illegals than the USA, and Wasserman-Schultz, who has a history of take-no-prisoners hardline leftism?

Unconscionable.  But, given that we're talking about NBC, 100% predictable.

One other thing:  Do yourself a favor and google "Emanuel Cleaver spat on called nigger".  You will find that google's first page is completely comprised of articles from left wing sources assuring you it really happened.  Clearly, the left has "google-bombed" this story to make sure that people who do not know better will come to that 100% wrong, dishonest conclusion.

The people doing this are propagandists, liars and cheap-shot artists.

Zeke ..... ...... Michelle Malkin, in her blog today, gives dozens of examples of LEFT Wing slurs, threats, calls for murder of Republicans - Palin, Bush, McCain. Calls for murdering them. .... ..... ..... Where is THIS in our noble MSM ? (MSM : Marxist-Soros Media). .... ..... ..... michellemalkin.com/ .... ..... .... (01/11/11)

First the key excerpt from Tommy Christopher's blog at mediaite.com:

Despite earlier reports that he would end the segment, Keith Olbermann announced Monday night that Countdowns Worst Person in the World segment will continue in some form, but under a different name.

He explained the fact that the segment was rooted in satire, but that some still thought he was literally claiming that these were the actual worst people in the world, and theres potential danger in that.

Olbermann explained that the purposes of the segment,  criticism, sarcasm, satire, calling out, even ridiculing, remain relevant and important, maybe more so now than ever before, and quoted philosopher Henri Bergson: Laughter is a social sanction against inflexible behavior.

Now my translation:

"I've been doing this worst person in the world" thing for years, and using it to fling the most negative, vicious filth I can come up with against the people I hate - defined as virtually anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders.

"But now that Gabrielle Giffords was shot, and my left wing pals are blaming it on "hate speech", there is at least a possibility that people will notice my "Countdown" show is loaded with it, and the "worst person in the world" segment is nothing but.

"Plus (gasp!), since it has now come out that the shooter is a left wing lunatic, people just might start connecting my ravings - not the political rhetoric of Sarah Palin or the commentaries of Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, but my ravings - to jared lee loughner's murderous actions.

"So I'm going to dump the "worst person in the world" segment immediately.

"But wait, how can I make it look like I'm doing something other than protecting my own, sorry ass?

"I've got it!  I'll blame.......the viewers!!!!!!!

"It's not me, you see.  I'm just doing brilliant, insightful satire.  It's those little people who are so far below me intellectually that they actually take what I say literally.

"God I am superior."

Based on what you know about keith olbermann, which of these two comes across as more accurate?  You decide.

Ken Berwitz

After yesterday's despicable "news reports" tying the Arizona shooter to Republicans and conservatives - without one word about the apparent fact that, politically, jared lee loughner was a left winger - I wondered if the Today Show could outdo itself this morning.

It did.

Andrea Mitchell, Today's reigning superstar of politically partisan hit pieces, told viewers that, since the shooting, the loud voices are getting even louder.  And then she showed footage of Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin.

Not one second of reporting about keith olbermann or Ed Schultz or Chris Matthews, or Mike Malloy, or rosie o'donnell, or roseane barr, or kathy griffin, or any of the many, many other left wing haters whose rhetoric could have impacted loughner.

I don't have the time, especially not today.  But I would love someone to do a search and enumerate what these left wing haters - the MSNBC haters in particular - had to say over the past year about "blue dog Democrats", one of whom was Gabrielle Giffords.

We have already seen the "bullseye" posting from dailykos.com (which I blogged about yesterday) - another reality that Andrea Mitchell would never, ever inform Today viewers about.  How many commentaries, how many vicious insults, how many condemnations have these people made about the group Giffords was part of ?

MSNBC is, and has for years been, an utter disgrace.

But NBC has become an even bigger disgrace, by virtue (what a strange word to use here) of not ony allowing a daily torrent of vile hate to be spewed on MSNBC, but then giving that hatred a free pass when a left wing lunatic opens fire.

I do not know how they can sleep at night.

Zeke ... .... .... Schizophrenics are not good people to sell guns to. .... .... Despite having several reports of death threats from Loughner, the publicity-hound sheriff did NOT update the national data base used to check prospective firearms purchasers. .... The sheriff fell down on his responsibilities -- and people died. .... Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Millard Fillmore had nothing to do with this insane person. .... ... There is absolutely no indication that Loughner ever even listened to any of them. .... .... .... .... Now, holding street demonstrations day after day, with vitriolic castigations -"white interloper" --- as Al Sharpton did in Harlem, at Freddy's Fashion Mart 15 yrs ago (and which resulted in a demented mob member killing 7 people in a gun and arson attack) --- THAT is an example of stirring up a mob and causing innocent deaths. .... .... The Leftist MSM is using ANY opportunity to denigrate Sarah Palin, because she is effective. .... .... The media is accelerating its downward spiral -- unhindered by any semblance of logic, accuracy, reality or responsibility. (01/11/11)
