OBAMA: DITHERING TAKEN TO A NEW LEVEL:

Ken Berwitz

Excerpted from an Associated Press article:

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama does not plan to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government , a senior administration official said Wednesday.

Obama still is close to announcing his revamped war strategy, most likely shortly after he returns from a trip to Asia that ends on Nov. 19.

The president raised questions at a war council meeting on Wednesday, however, that could alter the dynamic of both how many additional troops are sent to Afghanistan and what the timeline would be for their presence in the war zone, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss Obama's thinking.

It has been two and a half months since Barack Obama's own commanding General in Afghanistan told him what was needed.

Two and a half months of our brave soldiers in Afghanistan left twisting in the wind.

And still the dithering continues.

Barack Obama said this was a war of necessity.  The same Barack Obama who looks the other way while allowing our forces to be in greater jeopardy than they have to be.

This is pathetic.  It is a gross disservice and injustice to our men and women in uniform.  And to the country.

MR. OBAMA.  YOU ARE THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.  START ACTING LIKE ONE.

MAKE AN EFFING DECISION.

Zeke ... When you make no decision ... the available choices become fewer and fewer ... ... Many times, acting on a reasonable alternative is far superior than pretending to ponder ... ... Actions speak louder than words ... ... ..... Even if you can say "Present" in Pashto and Dari. (11/12/09)

THE REPUBLICAN SURGE?

Ken Berwitz

Are Republicans surging?

Gallup seems to think so:

November 11, 2009

Republicans Edge Ahead of Democrats in 2010 Vote

Registered voters prefer Republicans for the House, 48% to 44%

by Jeffrey M. Jones

PRINCETON, NJ -- Republicans have moved ahead of Democrats by 48% to 44% among registered voters in the latest update on Gallup's generic congressional ballot for the 2010 House elections, after trailing by six points in July and two points last month.

2010 Generic Congressional Ballot -- Preferences of Registered Voters -- 2009 Trend

Is the Obama administration's profligate spending the reason?  Or the health care monstrosity that more and more voters appear to be rejecting?  Maybe it is President Obama's dithering on the decision about sending troops to Afghanistan.  Or some combination of these, and other factors.

I don't know the answer.  No one knows for sure.

But if I were a "blue dog" Democrat I would be more than a little concerned about it.

Zeke .... But, they AREN'T Blue Dog Democrats .... they are fifth columnists .... and quislings. (11/11/09)
