OBAMA INVOKES GRANDMA

Ken Berwitz

From the Associated Press, via www.breitbart.com:

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Now, it's personal.

President Barack Obama invoked his own anguish over the death of a loved one as he challenged the debunked notion that Democratic efforts to overhaul the nation's health care would include "death panels."

"I just lost my grandmother last year. I know what it's like to watch somebody you love, who's aging, deteriorate and have to struggle with that," an impassioned Obama told a crowd as he spoke of Madelyn Payne Dunham. He took issue with "the notion that somehow I ran for public office or members of Congress are in this so they can go around pulling the plug on grandma."

"When you start making arguments like that, that's simply dishonestespecially when I hear the arguments coming from members of Congress in the other party who, turns out, sponsored similar provisions," Obama said.

I have a few questions:

-If the claims about his bill are dishonest, and the end of life issues didn't exist, how could they delete the offending sections this week?  How could they delete what wasn't there?

-Isn't this the same Barack Obama who promised us complete transparency on legislation, but then we couldn't see the so-called "stimulus package" before it was voted on?

-Isn't it the same Barack obama who demanded that congress vote on the "stimulus package" before being able to read it?

-Isn't this the same Barack Obama who said there would be no earmarks on legislation during his presidency, but who allowed 6,000 - 9,000 of them (depending on who you listen to) in the "stimulus package"?

-Isn't this the same Barack Obama who said it had to be passed immediately - don't read it, just sign - because every day was precious -- and then waited four days to sign it because he had a huge, media event in Denver he wanted to use for the signing?

-And, speaking of the grandmother he is now publicly anguishing over, isn't this the same Barack Obama whose regard for his grandmother caused him to publicly call her a racist, and a "typical White person"?

Now Mr. Obama is coming to us and saying that the health care bill never had the controversial end-of-life issues - even after the passages which were there had been deleted?

One more question:  Why would you believe a thing this man says?

A SUBJECT FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA TO DISCUSS WITH NORTH KOREA

Ken Berwitz

From Israel National News, via Japan' Kyodo News Service:

20 Killed in Failed Syrian Scud Missile Test

by Hana Levi Julian

(IsraelNN.com) At least 20 Syrian civilians were killed and 60 were wounded in a failed missile test in May, Japan's Kyodo News reported Friday.

The test involved two updated Scud missiles developed together by Syria, North Korea and Iran. Both exhibited defective guidance systems, according to a Middle Eastern military source quoted in the report.

One of the short-range ballistic missiles hit a market near the Syrian-Turkish border, causing dozens of civilian casualties.

Syrian forces attributed the blast to a gas explosion and blocked off the site to recover the remains of the missile.

The landing site of the second missile was not discosed in the report, which also quoted Western diplomats.

One of the sources speculated that the second missile may have exploded somewhere on the Syrian border with Iraq.

Evidence from the site of a destroyed nuclear reactor in northeastern Syria that was allegedly bombed by the Israel Air Force on September 6, 2007, showed that North Korea had been involved in the manufacture and construction of the facility.

Since President Obama is so hot to have discussions with North Korea, maybe he'd like to chat about its co-involvement with Iran in giving Syria the means to acquire nuclear weapons (with which it would almost certainly attack Israel).

Of course this assumes he isn't preoccupied with preventing Jews legally building a 20 unit apartment house in Israel's capital city of Jerusalem.  That, obviously, is far more important.

THE END OF THE RECESSION

Ken Berwitz

This short blog is for anyone who believes the Obama administration when it says that the so-called "stimulus package" is bringing us out of the recession.  From the Associated Press:

Japan's 2nd-quarter GDP hits 3.7 percent pace

Government says exports picking up as recession eases

TOKYO - Japan's economy grew in the second quarter at an annual pace of 3.7 percent, signaling exports were gradually picking up after the nation's worst recession since the end of World War II , the government said Monday.

Compared to the previous quarter, the world's second-largest economy expanded 0.9 percent in April-June from the previous quarter, according to Cabinet Office data. If that rate were maintained for a full year, Japan's economy would grow 3.7 percent.

Japan's news follows on the heels of France and Germany, both of which also have announced this week that they are coming out of recession.

The point?  It is that the world was in recession and the world is now coming out of it.  Not the United States by itself, the world.

The last time I checked, neither Japan, nor France, nor Germany got a penny of "stimulus package" money.

Remember that when the Obama PR machine goes into high gear extolling how the President's actions brought us back from the brink.

His actions did no such thing.  Period.
