JEW-HATE FOR KIDS
From the invaluable www.MEMRI.org, via the
equally invaluable www.frontpagemag.com, we have this
testament to a reality in the Muslim world that our wonderful "neutral" media

Following are excerpts from an address by Saudi cleric Khaled
Al-Khlewi, which aired on Al-Jazeera TV on January 11, 2009.

"The Jew is Treacherous, Disloyal, Deceitful, and
Belligerent By Nature; Nothing Works With Him But Force"
Khaled Al-Khlewi: "The [Jewish] Qaynuqa tribe
betrayed the Prophet Muhammad. A woman went to a Jewish market to buy a piece of
jewelry. The members of the Qaynuqa tribe were the most ruthless and wealthiest
Jews. When the Muslim woman reached the market, what did they do to her?
"A Jew sneaked behind her, and tied her gown to her
headdress, so when she tried to get up, her private parts were exposed. She
cried for help, and one of the Prophets companions came and killed the Jew.
Then the Jews ganged up on him and killed him. When the Prophet Muhammad learned
about this, he fought the Qaynuqa tribe and banished them. This is the only way
to deal with them.
"In the case of the Qurayza tribe - or rather, the Nazir
tribe - the Prophet Muhammad went to them, and learned against a wall. Some of
the Jews said: 'The Prophet Muhammad is leaning against the wall. Someone should
go to the top of the roof and throw a rock on his head.'
"Then the Angel Gabriel appeared, and informed the
Prophet in advance about this treachery. So the Prophet Muhammad banished them.
The Prophet carried out the greatest killing among the Qaynuqa tribe, because
they had violated their covenant with him.
"So, my friends, the conclusion we may draw from this
introduction is that with the Jews, nothing works but force. Memorize the
following parable, just like I learned it from others: 'Kiss the head of a Jew,
and he will deceive you - deceive him, and he will kiss your head.' The Jew is
treacherous, disloyal, deceitful, and belligerent by nature. Nothing works with
him but force.
"They have formed clandestine groups in Islamic
societies, as well as internationally. Marxism was founded by Karl Marx the Jew.
The Austrian journalist who preached the establishment of Israel, 50 years later
- Theodor Herzl - was a Jew as well. Many U.S. Congressmen are Jews. Most of the
media moguls are Jews."

Omar: "From the [Nile] River to the Euphrates"
"Who can tell us the slogan that points to the geographic
[aspirations] of the Jews? What is their slogan?
"Well done! Come up here, my dear Excellent! Come on up,
this way. Come here, my dear, here, so we can see you."
Eight-year-old Omar comes to the stage
Khaled Al-Khlewi: "Welcome, my dear. [kisses
him] Whats your name?"
Khaled Al-Khlewi: "Omar? Allah Akbar. They hate
Omar and are afraid of him. Omar what? Whats your dads name?"
Khaled Al-Khlewi: "And your moms name? [covers
Omars mouth as he is about to say her name] No, dont tell us moms name,
theres no need. Right? Well, dear, what is the slogan of the Jews? From the"
Omar: "From the river to the Euphrates."
Khaled Al-Khlewi: "From the Nile to the Euphrates.
Lets rephrase it: From the Euphrates to the Nile. Now let me complete it for
you: And from the cedar to the palm tree. Okay. Who can tell me which countries
this represents? From the Euphrates to the Nile - two countries. From the cedar
to the palm tree - two countries. Four countries altogether. Who can explain
this expression, by telling me what countries it refers to? Go ahead.
"Iraq and Egypt. Well done. 'From the Euphrates' means
Iraq. 'To the Nile' means Egypt. 'From the cedar' - wheres that? Lebanon. 'To
the palm tree'? Saudi Arabia - because they believe that Al-Madina belongs to
them, and that they should return to it.
"The problem is not Gaza alone. They have broader
aspirations. The Arab rulers and politicians must understand this problem. The
Jews are motivated by religious considerations, not only by political, economic,
or geographic considerations. They are motivated by their religion, and they
want to achieve this.
"What is your first name - Mahmoud, right? And your dads
name? Whats your first name?"
Khaled Al-Khlewi: "How old are you, Omar?"
Omar: "Eight years old."
"[The Jews] Wanted to Kill the Prophet Muhammad... What
Are They Doing to Our Muslim Brothers Now? They Are Killing Them"
Khaled Al-Khlewi: "Do you like the Jews?"
Khaled Al-Khlewi: "You hate them. Why do you hate
them? What did the Jews do?"
Omar: "They wanted to kill the Prophet Muhammad."
Khaled Al-Khlewi: "Well done. They wanted to kill
the Prophet Muhammad. And what are they doing to our Muslim brothers now? They
are killing them. When you curse them, what do you say? 'Oh God'?"
Omar: "Oh God, destroy the Jews."
Khaled Al-Khlewi: Well done. 'And support'?"
Omar: "The Muslims."
Khaled Al-Khlewi: "The Muslims. Well done, my
dear. Do you want to come with me to Saudi Arabia? I have a son like you, called
Abdallah. You can play with him. Will you come with me? Will you give me this
nice jacket you are wearing? Let me give you some water May Allah protect you.
I will give you this book and some water. Goodbye, my dear."
Yes, that is what the children are being taught. No pretense at all,
not hidden at all. Right on their TV screens.
If Israeli children were ever taught the tiniest
fraction of such hatred against Arabs, world media would be happy - make that
absolutely thrilled - to tell us about it. But where, other than places
like MEMRI and frontpagemag.com, do you ever get news of the virulent hatred taught to Arab children - despite the
fact that it is done right out in the open and literally broadcast on a
major Arab TV venue?
Sadly, this incredible double standard is de rigueur for world media -
including most US media. And its harm is incalculable.
THE CONTINUING AL QAEDA THREAT
Here is an excerpt from
an article in London's Daily Telegraph , which reminds us that al
qaeda, even in its debilitated state, is still capable of mass murder:
Al-Qaeda terror plot to bomb Easter
An al-Qaeda cell was days away from carrying out
an "Easter spectacular" of co-ordinated suicide bomb attacks on shopping centres
in Manchester, police believe.
Sources told The Daily Telegraph
that the arrests of 12 men in the north west of England on Wednesday were linked
to a suspected plan to launch a devastating attack this

they filmed themselves outside the Trafford Centre on the edge of Manchester,
the Arndale Centre in the city centre, and the nearby St Ann's

"It could have been the next few days and they
were talking about 10 days at the outside," one source said. "We had to act."
Police are now engaged in a search for an alleged bomb factory, where explosives
might have been assembled.
If such a plot was carried out, it would almost
certainly have been Britain's worst terrorist attack, with the potential to
cause more deaths than the suicide attacks of July 7, 2005, when 52 people were
The UK is a special target of al qaeda. The subway bombing is mentioned above.
But there was also the blazing car driven into Glasgow
Airport's terminal and the foiled plot to blow up 10 or so planes from the UK
while en route to the USA.
The USA, as we all know, was an even more special target in September of
2001. But President Bush moved quickly, decisively and successfully
against al qaeda which, I am certain, is why we have not been attacked
President Bush removed the taliban government of Afghanistan that allowed al
qaeda free reign to operate its training camps. He destroyed the camps
themselves. And Mr. Bush put bin laden (assuming he is even
alive anymore) and his fart-catcher zawahiri into hiding for the past 8
Thank you President Bush. Thank you for acting to protect us.
I strongly urge Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown, along with other western leaders (very much including
President Obama), to learn from what Mr. Bush did.
Simply stated, the only way to prevent terrorism is to take serious action
against its source. If
you treat terrorist attacks as if they are individual acts of lawlessness, and do nothing
other than criminally prosecute the individuals who perpetrate each attack, you are
guaranteeing that there will be more of them.
A NEW TWIST ON PAYING FOR SEX
My sister just sent me this story from a website named, interestingly enough,
www.classicfun.ws. I'm passing it
along while noting, as she did, that the dateline is April 1:
A nice story, with surprising end:
In Stuttgart, Germany, a court judge must decide
on a case of honorable intentions in a situation where a man hired his neighbor
to get his wife pregnant.
It seems that Demetrius Soupolos, 29, and his
former beauty queen wife, Traute, wanted a child badly, but Demetrius was told
by a doctor that he was sterile.
So, Soupolos, after calming his wifes protests,
hired his neighbor, Frank Maus, 34, to impregnate her. Since Maus was already
married and the father of two children, plus looked very much like Soupolos to
boot, the plan seemed good.
Soupolos paid Maus $2,500 for the job and for
three evenings a week for the next six months, Maus tried desperately, a total
of 72 different times, to impregnate Traute.
When his own wife objected, he explained, "I dont
like this any more than you. Im simply doing it for the money. Try and
When Traute failed to get pregnant after six
months, however, Soupolos was not understanding and insisted that Maus have a
medical examination, which he did.
The doctors announcement that Maus was also
sterile shocked everyone except his wife, who was forced to confess that Maus
was not the real father of their two children.
Now Soupolos is suing Maus for breach of contract
in an effort to get his money back, but Maus refuses to give it up because he
said he did not guarantee conception, but only that he would give an honest

Let's see, your neighbor comes by and says "would you mind having sex with my
former beauty queen wife? I'll pay you".
What to do, what to do.
There are about 6,284 different punch lines that could be used after this
story, some of which I suspect you've already thought of.
Me, I'm wondering what the former beauty queen actually looks like.
Given that Demetrius Soupolos, her husband, is only 29 years
old, you might assume she's still young and beautiful. But there is
no guarantee. I recall that the great comedienne Martha Raye's last
husband was young enough to be her son. So who knows?
In any case, Mr. Maus's wife has very little to complain about, since her
children are clearly not from her husband Frank. Hey, maybe they're
Demetrius' children. And round and round we go.
I think that's what they call the circle of life.
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER ON THE OBAMA APOLOGY TOUR
As a public service I am posting Charles Krauthammer's latest column.
It stands by itself and needs no further comment from me:
April 10, 2009
It's Your Country Too, Mr.
By Charles Krauthammer
WASHINGTON -- In his major foreign policy address
in Prague committing the United States to a world without nuclear weapons,
President Obama took note of North Korea's missile launch just hours earlier and
then grandiloquently proclaimed:
"Rules must be binding. Violations must be
punished. Words must mean something. The world must stand together to prevent
the spread of these weapons. Now is the time for a strong international
A more fatuous presidential call to arms is hard
to conceive. What "strong international response" did Obama muster to North
Korea's brazen defiance of a Chapter 7 --"binding," as it were -- U.N.
resolution prohibiting such a launch?
The obligatory emergency Security Council session
produced nothing. No sanctions. No resolution. Not even a statement. China and
Russia professed to find no violation whatsoever. They would not even permit a
U.N. statement that dared express "concern," let alone condemnation.
Having thus bravely rallied the international
community and summoned the U.N. -- a fiction and a farce, respectively -- what
was Obama's further response? The very next day, his defense secretary announced
drastic cuts in missile defense, including halting further deployment of
Alaska-based interceptors designed precisely to shoot down North Korean ICBMs.
Such is the "realism" Obama promised to restore to U.S. foreign policy.
He certainly has a vision. Rather than relying on
America's unique technological edge in missile defenses to provide a measure of
nuclear safety, Obama will instead boldly deploy the force of example. How? By
committing his country to disarmament gestures -- such as, he promised his
cheering acolytes in Prague, ratifying the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban
Really, now. How does U.S. ratification of that
treaty -- which America has, in any case, voluntarily abided by for 17 years --
cause North Korea to cease and desist, and cause Iran to turn nukes into
Obama's other great enthusiasm is renewing
disarmament talks with Russia. Good grief. Of all the useless sideshows. Cut
each of our arsenals in half and both countries could still, in Churchill's
immortal phrase, "make the rubble bounce."
There's little harm in engaging in talks about
redundant nukes because there is nothing of consequence at stake. But Obama
seems not even to understand that these talks are a gift to the Russians for
whom a return to anachronistic Reagan-era START talks is a return to the glory
of U.S.-Soviet summitry.
I'm not against gift-giving in international
relations. But it would be nice to see some reciprocity. Obama was in a giving
mood throughout Europe. While Gordon Brown was trying to make his American DVDs
work and the queen was rocking to her new iPod, the rest of Europe was enjoying
a more fulsome Obama gift.
Our president came bearing a basketful of mea
culpas. With varying degrees of directness or obliqueness, Obama indicted his
own people for arrogance, for dismissiveness and derisiveness, for genocide, for
torture, for Hiroshima, for Guantanamo and for insufficient respect for the
And what did he get for this obsessive denigration
of his own country? He wanted more NATO combat troops in Afghanistan to match
the surge of 17,000 Americans. He was rudely rebuffed.
He wanted more stimulus spending from Europe. He
From Russia, he got no help on Iran. From China,
he got the blocking of any action on North Korea.
And what did he get for Guantanamo? France, pop.
64 million, will take one prisoner. One! (Sadly, he'll have to leave his swim
buddy behind.) The Austrians said they would take none. As Interior Minister
Maria Fekter explained with impeccable Germanic logic, if they're not dangerous,
why not just keep them in America?
When Austria is mocking you, you're having a bad
week. Yet who can blame Frau Fekter, considering the disdain Obama showed his
own country while on foreign soil, acting the philosopher-king who hovers above
the fray mediating between his renegade homeland and an otherwise warm and
After all, it was Obama, not some envious
anti-American leader, who noted with satisfaction that a new financial order is
being created today by 20 countries, rather than by "just Roosevelt and
Churchill sitting in a room with a brandy." And then added: "But that's not the
world we live in, and it shouldn't be the world that we live in."
It is passing strange for a world leader to
celebrate his own country's decline. A few more such overseas tours, and Obama
will have a lot more decline to celebrate.
GUEST COMMENTARY: NEIL BOORTZ ON US RESOLVE UNDER OBAMA
Here is what Neil Boortz has to say about the current state of our
resolve: WEAKNESS OR
The mad man that runs Iran is bragging that they
now have 7000 centrifuges up and running making enriched nuclear weapons-grade
fuel. He also brags that they have developed a technology that enhances the
enrichment progress. At the same time the Iranian president continues to say
that Israel's days are limited. In the meantime Vice President Joe Biden warns
Israel that they had better not even think about attacking Iran. No strong
warning to Iran. What are we projecting here, strength or weakness?
The Islamic pirates continue to hold an American
hostage off the coast of Somalia. We're talking, not acting. So far I have not
heard about any search for the pirate mother ship and there's no talk of
blockading Somalian ports. The pirates may well end up with millions of dollars
and safe passage to Somalia where they will release their American hostage.
Strength or weakness?
The American the ragtag Islamic pirates are
holding tried to escape. He dove out of the boat and into the water and tried to
get away. Our Navy was standing off and not close enough to help him. The
Islamic pirates overtook him and took him into custody again. This man tried to
escape in full view of American forces. They were either unable or unwilling to
help him. Perhaps the American Captain thought that when he was out of the
pirate's boat the Navy would blow them away. Didn't happen. Strength or
America - once strong, now cowering.
Change you can believe in?
I only hope that he Mr. Boortz is wrong - especially about the somali pirate
situation, which I proudly blogged about less than 48 hours ago.
At that time I said that these "people" were effing with the wrong
guys. I did so on the grounds that we had taken back the ship and all crew
members other than the captain were safe.
Now, however, a small number of somali pirates are holding the
ship's captain in a lifeboat. The lifeboat has no fuel and
is drifting aimlessly in the water with our warship right there. Yet
they are making demands on us instead of the other way around.
It seems to me that our answer, in one form or another, should be that their
single best option is to immediately release their hostage absolutely
unharmed, be taken into custody and tried in a court of law. If any harm
befalls the hostage they will all die in that boat, along with as many of
their pirate pals as we can blow away.
Further, since they appear to be in contact with said pals, this message
should be made clear to them too, so they understand that the safety
of Captain Phillips is their problem as well.
I understand that this message has to be sent with care and diplomacy because
we want Captain Phillips back, safe and sound. But that is the message
that has to come from us.
Let's wait and see how it plays out. I hope to be proud at the end
of this situation -- but Mr. Boortz is making me wonder how realistic that
ROVE VERSUS BIDEN: WHO DO YOU TRUST?
It all boils down to who you trust -- except one of these two has a lot less
credibility than the other.
Here, from www.foxnews.com, are the
Rove Calls Biden 'Liar' After VP Boasts of
Aides to former President George W. Bush are
challenging the veracity of Vice President Joe Biden's claim this week of having
privately castigated Bush.
Republican strategist Karl Rove called Vice
President Biden a "liar" on Thursday, dramatically escalating a feud between
Biden and aides to former President George W. Bush over Biden's claims to have
rebuked Bush in private meetings.
"I hate to say this, but he's a serial
exaggerator," Rove told FOX News. "If I was being unkind I would say liar. But
it is a habit he ought to drop."
Rove added: "You should not exaggerate and lie
like this when you are the Vice President of the United States."
Biden's office did not immediately respond to a
request for comment, although Biden spokesman Jay Carney told Fox on Wednesday:
"The vice president stands by his remarks."
Carney was referring to two controversial
assertions by Biden, the latest coming Tuesday during an interview on
"I remember President Bush saying to me one time
in the Oval Office," Biden began, "'Well, Joe,' he said, 'I'm a leader.' And I
said: 'Mr. President, turn and around look behind you. No one is
The exchange is purely "fictional," said Rove, who
was Bush's top political adviser in the White House.
"It didn't happen," Rove, a FOX News contributor
and former Bush adviser, told Megyn Kelly in an interview taped for "On The
Record." "It's his imagination; it's a made-up, fictional world.
"He ought to get out of it and get back to
reality," Rove added. "He's making this up out of whole cloth."
Rove's skepticism was echoed by a variety of other
Bush aides, including former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer, chief of
staff Andy Card and legislative liaison Candida Wolff.
They also disputed a similar assertion made by
Biden in2004, when the former senator from Delaware told scores of Democratic
colleagues at a lunch that he had challenged Bush's moral certitude about the
Iraq war during a private meeting in the Oval Office. Two years later, Biden
repeated his story about dressing down the president.
"When I speak to the president - and I have had
plenty of opportunity to be with the president, at least prior to the last
election, a lot of hours alone with him. I mean, meaning me and his staff,"
Biden said on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" in April2006. "And the president
will say things to me, and I'll literally turn to the president, say: 'Mr.
President, how can you say that, knowing you don't know the facts?' And he'll
look at me and he'll say - my word - he'll look at me and he'll say: 'My
instincts.' He said: 'I have good instincts.' I said: 'Mr. President, your
instincts aren't good enough.'"
On Thursday, Rove ridiculed the claim that Biden
spent "a lot of hours alone with" Bush.
"Joe Biden was never alone with the president for
more than few moments," Rove said. "There was staff in the room the whole
Rove was equally appalled by Biden's claims of
having given Bush his comeuppance.
"If you notice, all of these incidents have the
same structure: Joe Biden courageously raises the impudent question; the
president befuddles the answer; and Joe Biden drives home the dramatic
Rove scoffed at Biden's claims that "he and the
president were sitting there in the Oval Office, he was tutoring the president,
he was asking him the critical questions that no one was willing to confront him
"With all due respect to the vice president, these
are the kind of things you can get away with if you are a United States Senator,
ora backbencher in the U.S. House of Representatives," Rove said. "You should
not exaggerate and lie like this when you are the Vice President of the United
Carney declined to specify the dates of his boss's
purported Oval Office scoldings of Bush. Nor would he provide witnesses or notes
to corroborate the episodes.
Throughout his career, Biden has often been
accused of boasting about his accomplishments, embellishing his credentials and
even stealing the words of others. He dropped out of the 1988 presidential race
after being accused of plagiarizing British Labor Party leader Neil
Last July, Biden came under fire for telling a
questionable story about being "shot at" in Iraq. When questioned by the Hill
newspaper, Biden backpedaled by saying: "I was near where a shot
Biden went on to say that some sort of projectile
"landed" outside a building in the Green Zone where he and another senator had
spent the night during a visit in December 2005. The lawmakers were shaving in
the morning when they felt the building shake, Biden said.
"No one got up and ran from the room-it wasn't
that kind of thing," he told the Hill. "It's not like I had someone holding a
gun to my head."
In September, Biden again raised eyebrows with
another story about his exploits in war zones -- this time on "the superhighway
of terror between Pakistan and Afghanistan, where my helicopter was forced
"If you want to know where Al Qaeda lives, you
want to know where bin Laden is, come back to Afghanistan with me," Biden
bragged to the National Guard Association. "Come back to the area where my
helicopter was forced down, with a three-star general and three senators
at10,500 feet in the middle of those mountains. I can tell you where they
But it turns out that inclement weather, not
terrorists, prompted the chopper to land in an open field during Biden's visit
to Afghanistan in February 2008. Fighter jets kept watch overhead while a convoy
of security vehicles was dispatched to retrieve Biden and fellow Sens. Chuck
Hagel and John Kerry.
"We were going to send Biden out to fight the
Taliban with snowballs, but we didn't have to," joked Kerry, a Democrat, to the
AP. "Other than getting a little cold, it was fine."
Karl Rove has been a major target of Democrats from the day that President
Bush took office. He's been called just about every name in the book by
them, including dishonest. That's politics.
Joe Biden, on the other hand, has a rich history of flat-out lying to our faces. This is not meant as
a personal attack or an accusation without proof. It
is fact-based. Biden just plain lies - as brought home by
the above article.
Speaking bluntly, Biden's claims about dressing down
President Bush look like the kind of braggadocio you get from people of
little accomplishment. These folks do the most amazing
you're not there.
But when you are there, their accomplishments somehow
never seem to take place. What an amazing coincidence.
I sometimes call Mr. Biden Jackass Joe in here. Today, the name seems
to fit especially well.
TIME TO BLOW AWAY THE SOMALI PIRATES
It is time to end the Somali pirate threat.
As can be seen from the excerpts of an Associated Press article below, the
ships and the ports used by these subhuman scumbags are well known. The
question is, are we prepared to do what has to be done - and is the so-called
"international community" prepared to back us up?
||NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -
The American captain held hostage by four Somali pirates made a desperate
escape attempt Friday but was recaptured, and officials said other pirates
sought to reinforce their colleagues by sailing hijacked ships with other
captives aboard to the scene of the standoff.
A Somali in contact with a pirate leader
said the captors want a ransom and are ready to kill the hostage, Capt.
Richard Phillips, if attacked.
U.S. was bolstering its force by dispatching other warships to the site
off the Horn of Africa,
where a U.S. destroyer shadowed the drifting lifeboat carrying Phillips.
He was taken hostage in the pirates' failed effort to hijack the cargo
ship Maersk Alabama
The pirates' strategy is to link up with
their colleagues, who are holding Russian, German, Filipino and other
hostages, and get Phillips to lawless Somalia, where
they could hide the hostage and make it difficult to stage a rescue. It
would give them more leverage and a stronger negotiating position to
discuss a ransom. Anchoring near shore also means they could escape onto
land quickly if attacked.
The Somali, who helped negotiate a ransom
last year to pirates after they seized a Ukrainian ship carrying tanks,
spoke Friday on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals. He says he
has spoken with a pirate leader in Somalia who is coordinating action on
Negotiations are taking place between the
pirates and the captain of the Bainbridge, who is getting direction from
negotiators, the officials said. The captors are also communicating with
other pirate vessels by satellite phone, officials said.
U.S. Central Command chief Gen. David Petraeus
said U.S. warships also are headed to the area, more than 300 miles off
Somalia's Indian Ocean coast.
"We want to ensure that we have all the
capability that might be needed over the course of the coming days," he
Mohamed Samaw, a resident of the pirate
stronghold in Eyl, Somalia,
who claims to have a "share" in a British-owned ship hijacked Monday, said
four foreign vessels held by pirates are heading toward the lifeboat. A
total of 54 hostages are on two of the shipscitizens of China,
Ukraine, the Philippines,

Nairobi-based diplomat, who spoke on condition on anonymity because he is
not authorized to talk to the media. "We knew they were gathering

"They had asked us for reinforcement, and we
have already sent a good number of well-equipped colleagues, who were
holding a German cargo ship," said the man, who asked that only his first
name, Badow, be used to protect him from reprisals.
"We know for certain that they share
information. We know they talk to each other. They're not stupid. They can
be very smart," Cloonan said.
The Alabama sailed away from the lifeboat
Thursday, Maersk shipping line said, and a team of armed Navy SEALs is on
board, according to a U.S. official who asked not to be identified because
of the sensitivity of the situation.
It was sailing toward the Kenyan port of
Mombasaits original destinationand was expected to arrive Saturday
night, said Joseph Murphy, a professor at the maritime academy whose son,
Shane Murphy, is second-in-command of the vessel.
Company spokesman Kevin Speers told AP Radio
on Thursday the lifeboat carrying Phillips and the pirates was out of fuel
and "dead in the water."
Most of the lifeboats are about 28 feet long
and carry water and food for 34 people for 10 days, Joseph Murphy said.
The show of force follows an increase in the
number of attacks and the first on a U.S.-flagged ship. The vessels
strengthen surveillance of the area and may dissuade pirates from seizing
another ship, but there are not enough for a blockade in the danger zone
that sprawls across 1.1 million square miles, said a senior U.S. defense
official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized
to discuss operational matters.
The Alabama was the sixth vessel in a week
to be hit by pirates who have extorted tens of millions of dollars in
President Barack Obama is getting regular
updates on the situation, said White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. U.S.
Attorney General Eric Holder said the United States will take whatever
steps are needed to protect U.S. shipping interests against pirates.
There isn't anything to talk about here, other than 1) how to get back the
hostages, especially our hostage and 2) how then to remove these "people", their
ships and their apparently safe harbors by whatever means are necessary.
The other countries whose ships were hijacked by these high
seas terrorists made it clear that they are too pusillanimous to
act. That is their disgrace. But it wasn't our business -- until
now. This time, a US ship is involved.
Now it is up to us to lead the way, as we have done so many times before. The question is, are
we up to it?
Hello, Barack? It's 3:00AM.......
THE OBAMA-BUSH WAR CONNECTION
This is the latest in a series. From Reuters:
Obama asks Congress for extra $83.4 bln for
WASHINGTON, April 9 (Reuters) - President Barack
Obama asked the U.S. Congress for an additional $83.4 billion to fund the
military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan on Thursday, saying the security
situation along the Afghan-Pakistan frontier was urgent.
"The Taliban is resurgent and al Qaeda threatens
America from its safe haven along the Afghan-Pakistan border," Obama said in a
letter to Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House of Representatives, that was
released by the White House.
Obama said 95 percent of the $83.4 billion in
supplemental funds he was requesting would go to support U.S. military
operations in Iraq and the U.S. effort to disrupt and defeat al Qaeda.
Thus we have another issue Barack Obama and Democrats railed about
through the Bush years which, as President, Mr. Obama is handling just the way Mr.
Yes, we need more money to fund our efforts in Iraq
and Afghanistan under Obama, just as we did under Bush. Now, all we have
to do is wait for Democrats to protest this request the same way they protested
under Mr. Bush.
That should occur roughly two days after Barney Fudd buys an upper dental
plate and announces he is engaged to Madonna.
The first UN conference was held in Durban, South Africa in 2001.
President Bush ordered that we not attend, because it was so clearly an
anti-Semitic hate-fest. All credit to Mr. Bush for doing so at that time,
he was 100% correct.
Now Durban II is rolling around. And as of this moment it is
entirely possibly, even likely, that the US will provide the prestige
and credibility of our participation in it.
Is this because Durban II is an improvement over its predecessor? Here
is your answer, via excerpts from Ann
Bayefsky's latest column:
04.09.09, 11:20 AM ET
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has
announced his intention to attend the U.N.'s Durban II conference, which begins
on April 20 in Geneva.
The summit is billed by the U.N. as an occasion to
combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance. But
Ahmadinejad denies the Holocaust, has advocated genocide and openly seeks the
annihilation of the state of Israel.
In providing a hatemonger with a global
platform--under the banner of an "anti-racism" conference--the United Nations
has become an enabler of genocide. It is time for every decent, self-respecting
democratic state to withdraw immediately from Durban II.
The Iranian president had every reason to expect a
warm reception from the U.N. For one, the members of its Human Rights Council
elected Iran as a vice-chair of the preparatory committee for the conference.
Further, Iran has been the single most active participant during this week's
preparatory sessions in Geneva. It has even succeeded in denying a Jewish
non-governmental organization accreditation the right to participate in
preparations for Durban II.
At Tuesday's negotiations on a final document to
be adopted formally at Durban II, the Iranian representative proposed sweeping
limitations on freedom of expression under the banner of "defaming" religion, as
well as protection for "cultural diversity," as vehicles for justifying Iranian
laws that permit the stoning of women, the murder of homosexuals and the torture
of dissidents. While approval is still pending, not one country voiced any
objection to these measures--despite the obvious incompatibility with the
conference's declared purpose.
Does that answer the question clearly enough?
HOW can we be a party to this? HOW can we attend this hate-filled UN
farce? The simple fact that we are even considering participation
is bad enough. But there is a very good possibility that we
will, in fact, be there.
Thank you President Obama. Thank you so much.
According to exit polling, 78% of the Jews in this country voted for
Barack Obama in the last election. I hope they're damn happy with
what they got.
Speaking as one of the other 22%, I can assure you I'm not.
ED SCHULTZ: ARE MSNBC'S BUZZARDS FLYING OVER HIM ALREADY?
Is Ed Schultz DOA?
Brian Maloney of www.radioequalizer.blogspot sure
seems to think so. And he's got some pretty good reasons, as you can see
A Bad Week: Big
Eddie's Funny Money, Low Ratings
For Ed Schultz, it should have been a week to
celebrate. After all, his longtime desire to become a cable pundit had finally
been realized, with a 6pm slot on far-left outlet MSNBC.
Unfortunately, the syndicated
radio libtalker may have succeeded only in calling a bit too much attention to
himself. With a higher profile comes added scrutiny,
even if the mainstream media is asleep at the switch.
figures haven't provided reason to cheer, at least not yet. Debuting on Monday to an average
audience of 247,000 in the 25-54 demographic and 725,000 overall, by Wednesday that figure had dropped to 119,000 and 406,000,
ratings are down across the board, there appears to be little buzz about the
addition of Schultz. In an attempt to fix the situation, NBC suits plugged
Schultz into Keith Olbermann's slot Thursday, hoping the one-day airing would
salvage the new program.
During yesterday's radio program, Schultz
himself had this to say:
Appreciate all your emails and your support. The, ah, early numbers that have
come in for ratings have not been bad, I might say. I wouldn't say we knocked
it out of the park, but we're, we're getting there, we're getting there.
past several weeks, your Radio
Equalizer has examined Big Ed's background, including his volatile temper
and direct ties to Democratic Party funding, which made even fellow libtalker Randi Rhodes
Today, however, the
ultimate smoking gun has been discovered by Jeff Poor at NewsBusters, citing research performed by J Justin Wilson at the Center
For Union Facts:
Leo Gerard, president of the United
Steelworkers, was even Schultz's first guest. On his second show on April 7,
Schultz's opening "OpEd" segment was firmly for the Employee Free Choice Act,
also known as card check. And, on his third show on April 8, he invited Mary
Beth Maxwell, executive director of the pro-union, pro-card check American
Rights at Work organization.
However, there's one detail Schultz hasn't
revealed to his audience - a potential conflict of interest. As recently as
2008, Schultz received more than $20,000 from three separate AFL-CIO
affiliated labor unions.
According to documents posted on the U.S.
Department of Labor Web site, Schultz received $22,304 for his services - a
fact picked up by J. Justin Wilson, managing director, Center for Union Facts.
* Steelworkers - "Publicity/Advertising" -
* Air Traffic
Controllers - "Broadcasting Services" - $7,304
* Plumbers Local 189 - "Event" -
In his piece, Poor includes images of the union
filings and documents how Schultz subsequently pushed for specific elements of
their political agenda, including the highly controversial Employee Free Choice
To those in both politics
and broadcasting, the only real surprise is that it took this long to catch
Schultz in the act. There have long been questions about his funding sources and
In particular, some have wondered how he was able to
afford an expensive personal cable studio setup in his Fargo home, which was
remotely operated by a Boston-based firm. With a bit more digging, one can only
wonder what else might be found.
So let's add it up (or maybe subtract it down is more apropos):
-Schultz had a good - not great, but good - first day (most new shows
do because there are a lot of curiosity-seekers). But he
then dropped over 40% of his total audience just two days later.
-His drop was even more precipitous among the highly valued 25-54
segment - over 50%;
-He is picking key guests from a sector that recently shtupped him with
over $22,000 to line his pockets with.
I don't know what the MSNBC suits are thinking right now. But if I were
them I'd be checking to see if David Schuster wants back in, or Phil Donahue can
be resurrected, or Dan Abrams wants to try again. Maybe they can convince
Walter Cronkite to try a new career at age 93.
In other words, someone - anyone - to put on deck for when (if?) Schultz goes
off life support.
