TAWANA BRAWLEY'S LEGACY
You probably remember the name Tawana Brawley.
She was the Wappingers Falls, New York teenager who spent a few days partying
away from her home and decided to cover it up by concocting a story of
being kidnapped and assaulted, by a group of White men, several of them police
The story was a complete fraud and hoax (which, not incidentally, launched
the media-star career of al sharpton).
But it worked - at least until the facts started coming out - because there
certainly is credibility to the premise that a Black woman could be assaulted by
a group of White men.
Sadly, this routine has been reprised over and over
again through the years. But, unlike the Brawley hoax, most subsequent
racial hoaxes of this kind are barely reported in the media.
is the latest example, from the AP, via www.sweetness-light.com:
Here's what I'm talking about:
Speaking of racist hate crimes, here is an all
too typical example from the Louisiana CBS affiliate WBRZ:
Man charged in e-mail threats
FBI investigators trace messages to phony
By JOHN A. COLVIN
Nov 14, 2008
A 19-year-old Mississippi man is facing federal
charges after allegedly sending threatening e-mails with racial
overtones to students at several universities, including
Nicholls State University and LSU, according to an arrest affidavit.
On Wednesday, FBI agents arrested Dyron Hart, of
Poplarville, Miss., and booked him with sending threatening e-mails, stemming
from messages he sent to three black students attending Nicholls State, in
Hart is black.
Hart told the FBI that he wanted to to create a
reaction after Barack Obama was elected president, according to an arrest
Hart allegedly created a false
profile of a white man on Facebook, a social networking Web site. He
is accused of using that profile to send e-mail messages to people listed as
his own friends.
The affidavit included the entire text of the
identical e-mail messages sent to two women students and one male student at
Nicholls State, along with students at LSU, at universities in Alabama and
Mississippi, as well as other recipients in the Poplarville, Miss., area.
It included four racial epithets.
Hart allegedly wrote, I bet your all
proud that you just got a black president huh. Well im here to tell, Barack
just maid me your worst nightmare. Because of him I have to kill you. I have
plans to off over three thousand (racial epithet deleted) in a months time
because of Barack.
Hart allegedly went on to say he was debating
whether to start off by killing the people he selected to receive his

already planned on how I will kill you, Hart wrote, according to the
affidavit. Im just letting you know so your not surprised when a

The e-mails were sent to the Nicholls students
in the early morning hours of Nov. 5, just hours after Obama was declared
Meeting on the afternoon of Nov. 5, Nicholls
officials concluded that the e-mails were sent to a group of individuals based
upon their political views and were not focused on Nicholls or the
surrounding community, according to a news release the university issued.
On Nov. 6, Nicholls police contacted the FBI,
providing the agents with a list of Internet Protocol addresses, numeric codes
given to a computer connected to the Internet, that were associated with
Harts fake Facebook profile, according to an affidavit.
The FBI investigation led authorities to a home
computer being used by Hart, according to an affidavit.
On Nov. 7, Hart told agents that he sent
the same threatening messages to students at Nicholls, LSU, the University of
Mississippi and the University of Alabama, as well as other people in the
Poplarville area, the affidavit states.
Hart was booked into the Stone County Jail in
Mississippi and made his initial court appearance Thursday, the FBI reported.
The maximum penalty for transmitting a
threatening communication is a five-year prison term, a fine of $250,000 and
three years of supervised release.
Nicholls records show that Hart was enrolled for
one semester spring 2008. Rob Bernardi, director of athletics, said that
Hart attempted to earn a walk-on spot on the football team. He practiced with
the team from April 3 through April 19, but failed to meet NCAA clearinghouse
qualifications, and therefore was never a member of the team.
Nicholls President Stephen Hulbert issued a
statement concerning the incident, saying he was pleased the investigation was
Our university Police Department worked in
complete cooperation with the FBI, Louisiana State Police, the Poplarville
Miss., Police Department and the U.S. Attorneys Office to resolve this
matter as quickly as possible, Hulbert said.
Funny how stories like these never seem to get
carried beyond a handful of local media outlets.
Even when they are Associated Press articles.
Wonder what would happen if the races were
Does that picture remind you of anything?
Like maybe the Columbia University professor from a couple of years ago who
claimed someone put a noose on her office door?
It turned out that what was really happening was that she was being
investigated by the school and likely was going to be suspended or
dismissed (which is what ultimately happened). So suddenly a noose
materialized and she was a victim. It cost New York City countless hours
of wasted police work and generated marches and protests....as frauds like this
Here is an excerpt from a larger article
talking about other incidents such as these:
A recent racial incident at the University of Iowa
has brought to light what has been a scandalous trend in U.S. higher education.
For several days, a black male dental school student received numerous racist
e-mails, and the campus erupted in predictable rage. Students held rallies and
candlelight vigils amid demands for more "diversity training."
Alas, the story has an "unhappy" ending. The
sender of those e-mails was not a David Duke-loving white racist, but rather
another dental students, this one black and female. Once again, a supposed
egregious racist attack on black university students was a fraud. Police
arrested the perpetrator, but the long-term disposition of the case is in
This was not an isolated incident. In the last few
years, there have been a number of "racial attacks" at college campuses in which
a student has alleged an assault only to have the authorities find out later
that the whole thing was a lie. For example, a white female student at Guilford
College, a Quaker college in North Carolina, claimed to have been assaulted by
the ubiquitous Angry White Males to punish her for having a black boyfriend. Not
only were the perpetrators supposed to have beaten her, but they also wrote
racist slogans across her chest, according to her accusation.
While it did not take long to find that the
student's claims were lies, that was not the end of the story. In fact, her lies
were only the beginning, as college officials quickly instituted the dreaded
"diversity training" to re-educate the rest of the student body, and many people
at Guilford praised the student for "raising awareness of racism."
In other words, even though there had been no
presence of the dreaded "racism" at Guilford, college administrators were happy
to institute what amounted to "struggle" sessions (made famous by the Chinese
communists). The student whose lies started the whole thing faced no sanctions
from Guilford's administration, and no wonder: her falsehoods enabled those
administrators to proclaim a "crisis" that needed immediate
At Emory University a few years before the
Guilford saga, a black female student fainted after "discovering" racist slogans
written with lipstick hidden under a small throw rug in her dormitory room.
After the required anti-racism rallies, candlelight vigils, and implementation
of "diversity training," it was found out that the girl had written the slogans
The moral is that racism is a two-edged sword, and it really does cut
both ways. When we hear stories of overt racism, let's make sure we know
the facts before coming to our conclusions. Things are not always what
they at first seem.
And let's hope against hope that media start reporting the ends of some of
these stories...not just the beginnings.
OBAMA'S PLAN FOR ISRAEL
Now that Barack Obama has been elected President, what is his plan for
Charles Johnson of www.littlegreenfootballs.com
gives us the details --- and reminds us of who and what they are coming
from. Somehow I doubt Israel is going to be particularly reassured:

According to the Times of London, Barack Obama is
going to back the Mideast peace plan originally proposed by King Abdullah of
Saudi Arabia. This plan gives all the land Israel captured in the 1967 war to
the Palestinians (whoever thats supposed to be; Hamas or Fatah?), gives back
the Golan Heights to Syria, and gives East Jerusalem to the Palestinians as
their state capital: Barack Obama links Israel peace plan to
1967 borders deal.
Does Israel get anything out of this? Well, yes;
they wont have to accept the so-called right of return, otherwise known as
the demographic destruction of Israel.
Barack Obama is to pursue an ambitious peace
plan in the Middle East involving the recognition of Israel by the Arab world
in exchange for its withdrawal to pre-1967 borders, according to sources close
to Americas president-elect.
Obama intends to throw his support behind a 2002
Saudi peace initiative endorsed by the Arab League and backed by Tzipi Livni,
the Israeli foreign minister and leader of the ruling Kadima party. The
proposal gives Israel an effective veto on the return of Arab refugees
expelled in 1948 while requiring it to restore the Golan Heights to Syria and
allow the Palestinians to establish a state capital in east
On a visit to the Middle East last July, the
president-elect said privately it would be crazy for Israel to refuse a deal
that could give them peace with the Muslim world, according to a senior
Obama apparently has been convinced by his gaggle
of mildly to extremely anti-Israel advisers that the best hope for change is to
give a one-sided deal concocted by a rabidly anti-Israel, totalitarian religious
monarchy another chance.
Putting aside the issue of whether any of the Arab
players in this eternally-recycling land for peace shell game can be trusted
to keep their side of any bargain, theres always the possibility that the
Palestinian side (whoever that is; Fatah? Hamas?) will manage to screw it up,
either by making the right of return a deal-breaker or by committing some
heinous act of mass murder.
UPDATE at 11/16/08 9:27:31 am:
It should be noted that one of the Times writers
on this piece, Uzi Mahnaimi, has a rather checkered past: Uzi Mahnaimi and his lies about Israel.
Just great. Mr. Obama's plan is to implement a Jew hating Israel
hater's blueprint, the central contingency of which is giving up land in return
for the promises of people who have lied to Israel for 60 years.
According to the exit polls, 78% of all Jews voted for this man.
Presumably, most of them support Israel.
Speaking as one of the other 22%, let me say to them that this is what you
wanted, and this is what you got. I hope you're happy about
