Now that enemy combatants in Guantanamo have habeus corpus rights, I thought you might be interested in seeing how at least one such detainee made out after being released.  The story comes to us via  Please remember it is not the only example of what detainees (go back to) do(ing) when they are released.  Not by a long shot:

Straight Outta Gitmo

A former Guantanamo Bay detainee, Abdullah Salih al Ajmi has been identified as the Al Qaeda operative who conducted a suicide truck bombing in Mosul: Released Guantanamo detainee behind March suicide truck bombing at Combat Outpost Inman in Mosul.

A former Kuwaiti Guantanamo Bay detainee conducts a suicide attack in Mosul

Two Kuwaiti al Qaeda operatives who conducted suicide attacks were featured at the end of the video. Abu Omar al Kuwaiti, also known as Badr Mishel Gamaan al Harbi, and Abu Juheiman al Kuwaiti, also known as Abdullah Salih al Ajmi, are both shown on the video, along with their attacks in Mosul, said Kazimi.

Harbi, who claimed to be a veteran of the jihad in Afghanistan, conducted a suicide car bomb attack on a police station in Mosul on April 26, 2008.

Ajmi was released from Guantanamo Bay and was searching for a way to reconnect with the jihad. He claimed he was tortured while at Guantanamo Bay.

Ajmi is seemingly responsible for an earlier truck bombing at the Iraqi Army HQ in the Harmat neighborhood of Mosul on March 23, 2008, said Kazimi. The attack occurred at Combat Outpost Inman, an Iraqi Army base that served as the headquarters for the 1st Battalion, 3rd Brigade of the 2nd Iraqi Army Division.

Can you be surprised by this?  I hope not.

Our military didn't pick these people up while they were strolling down the street to a movie.  They are enemy combatants.  And, while I acknowledge that mistakes can be made in this regard (though I doubt there are many), I know that most detainees are exactly what they're cracked up to be, and will resume their enemy combatant status if given the chance.

Well, abdullah salih al ajmi  was given that chance.  How sorry I am that he isn't still in Guantanamo.

Are you enjoying the re-invention of Michelle Obama?  All of a sudden she's not the bitter, angry USA-disparaging scold we have seen in the past, she's the gal next door.

(Hmmm, a bitter, angry-USA-disparaging scold trying to act like the gal next door.  No wonder she was such a hit on The View....)

The Obama people's job is to sell this blatant re-invention of Ms. Obama.  Your job is to allow yourself to be re-educated to their re-invention.  You are no longer supposed to allow Ms. Obama's previous persona to count.  Only the newly packaged one.

And, in the bargain, you are supposed to compare Ms. Obama to Cindy McCain, the vapid, vacuous ice queen who John McCain married for her money.

Is this my opinion of Ms. McCain?  Nope.  Not at all.  But I've both heard and read it -- along with a lot worse too.  Especially in the blogosphere.

With the above in mind, I thought I would post a terrific editorial from Investors Business Daily's May 1, 2008 edition, which my friend Bob just brought to my attention.  It reminds us of just how vast the difference is between re-invention/re-education and reality:

McCain's Better Half

By INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Thursday, May 01, 2008 4:20 PM PT

Election 2008: Cindy Hensley McCain has been disparaged as a trophy wife, a Barbie, an heiress with fancy purses, even the Paris Hilton of politics. But there's more to the picture than meets the eye.

Yes, Mrs. McCain is the perfectly coifed blonde standing dutifully behind the senator during his speeches. And yes, she wears stylish clothing and carries a Prada purse. And it's true she doesn't say much. But feminist critics who write her off as a "stand-by-your-man" shrinking violet are selling her short. In many ways, Cindy McCain stacks up sturdier than Hillary Clinton or Michelle Obama. And she'd make a more impressive first lady.

While Obama's wife has been hating America, complaining about the war and undermining our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, McCain's wife has been worrying about her sons who actually are fighting or planning to fight in the war on terror. One, in fact, was until a few months ago deployed in Iraq during some of the worst violence.

You don't hear the McCains talk about it, but their 19-year-old Marine, Jimmy, is preparing for his second tour of duty. Their 21-year-old son, Jack, is poised to graduate from Annapolis and also could join the Marines as a second lieutenant. The couple made the decision not to draw attention to their sons out of respect for other families with sons and daughters in harm's way.

Cindy also says she doesn't want to risk falling apart on the campaign trail talking about Jimmy who was so young when he enlisted she had to sign consent forms for his medical tests before he could report for duty and potentially upsetting parents of soldiers who are serving or have been killed.

The McCains want to make sure their boys get no special treatment. Same goes for their five other children, including a daughter they adopted from Bangladesh. During a visit to Mother Teresa's orphanage there, Cindy noticed a dying baby. The orphanage could not provide the medical care needed to save her life. So she brought the child home to America for the surgery she desperately needed. The baby is now their healthy, 16-year-old daughter, Bridget.

Though all seven McCain children including two Sen. McCain adopted from his first marriage are supportive of their father, they prefer their privacy to the glare of the campaign trail. Another daughter, Meghan, 23, helps him behind the scenes.

Cindy McCain not only cherishes her children, but also her country, which in an election year filled with America-bashing, is a refreshing novelty. She seethed when she heard Michelle Obama's unpatriotic remarks that she only recently grew proud of America. "I am very proud of my country," Mrs. McCain asserted.

She also may be tougher than the other women in the race. While Hillary thinks she's come under sniper fire on mission trips abroad, Cindy has actually seen violence. She witnessed a boy get blown up by a mine in Kuwait during a trip with an international group that removes land mines from war-torn countries.

Mrs. McCain also is a hands-on philanthropist. She sits on the board of Operation Smile, which arranges for plastic surgeons to fix cleft palates and other birth defects. She also has helped organize relief missions to Micronesia.

During a scuba-diving vacation to the islands, Mrs. McCain took a friend to a local hospital to have a cut treated. She was shocked, and saddened, by what she saw.

"They opened the door to the OR, where the supplies were, and there were two cats and a whole bunch of rats climbing out of the sterile supplies," she recalled. "They had no X-ray machine, no beds. To me, it was devastating because it was a U.S. trust territory."

As soon as she returned home, she arranged for medical equipment and teams of doctors to be sent to treat the island children.

Michelle Obama may contribute to CARE, which fights global poverty and works to empower poor women. Cindy sits on its board.

While the Democrat women talk about helping the poor and needy, Cindy McCain actually rolls up her sleeves and does it. Who's the out-of-touch elitist?.

The Obama people can reinvent Michelle Obama all they want.  And maybe they will be successful in convincing you she is the new improved version instead of what she was when she was being herself.   Good image-making can do that;  it can overcome reality very effectively.

But the McCain people don't have to do a thing to re-invent Cindy McCain, do they?

Remember that the next time you hear how wonderful Michelle is and how awful Cindy is by comparison.  Don't let them play you for a sucker.

In checking out the previous blog, I noticed that someone had posted the IBD editorial about Cindy McCain at the liberal-left web site,

I thought you might be interested to see how some of the Lunatic-left And Mega-moonbat Brigade members reacted to it.  I apologize in advance for the hate level and disgusting language.  Remember, it isn't me, it's them:

You mean "Cunt" McCain or..."Trollop" McCain?

One wonders, Pvt. CrockO'Shitowitz, if she has either of those husbandly endearments on her check books or credit cards.

Ya s'pose she tells folks, "look honey, you can call me cindy, sure. But my real friends call me cunt or trollop. You decide."

"Cindy Hensley McCain has been disparaged as a trophy wife, a Barbie, an heiress with fancy purses, even the Paris Hilton of politics."

Dont forget cunt and trollop.

She is also a narcotics thief, an addict and an adulteress.

Whooooooooo hooooooooooooooooo she married a traitor

The only fiber in Johnny Mac is the kind that keeps his elderly bowels chuggin' along.

McWhore is toast...

Just think, Obama has the same power as your piece of shit in Whitehouse does now.

One more thing:  Comments like this are absolutely commonplace in the left wing blogosphere - very much including the most successful sites (e.g. dailykos, crooksandliars, demoncratic underground and others that you can link to from here).  Try and find them on any centrist or right wing site.

Damn us all and our party if we let this go

It is no secret that public discourse in this country has become very shrill. Blogs on the left regularly feature vulgar diatribes against the right. Some on the right do the same. Keith Olbermann tells the President to "shut the hell up" on his television program. The New York Times publicly reveals the name of a CIA agent who did the dirty work of interrogating captured Al Qaeda operatives. The left says, "So, the right did it to Valerie Plame," treating as morally equivalent the disclosure of the spy no longer spying and the disclosure of one of the men Al Qaeda would love to behead.

While Congress has also descended into a more shrill style, until yesterday it had not crossed one line of civility that never should be crossed on either side.

David Addington is the Vice President's Chief of Staff. Yesterday, he testified before Congress.

During the course of the hearing, Congressman and Obama Superdelegate William Delahunt (MA-10) asked Mr. Addington about water boarding. Mr. Addington responded that he would not go into details because Al Qaeda is probably watching.

Congressman Delahunt's response was, "I'm glad they finally have a chance to see you."

Mr. Delahunt now denies he meant what he said. But what he clearly said was "I'm glad they finally have a chance to see you." Al Qaeda now knows the face of one of the men who relentlessly pursues its henchmen and deals with their interrogations. Mr. Addington volunteered for public service, not a death sentence with Congressional encouragement. Mr. Delahunt is both a vile liar and a cowardly lion willing to roar down at Mr. Addington while encouraging terrorists to do his dirty work in a war he has been ineffective at stopping.

The left, while attacking Charlie Black for stating the obvious -- that a terrorist incident helps the GOP politically because they are seen as more competent in the national security arena -- is defending this degradation of congressional discourse and vile swipe at Mr. Addington.

This discourse a member of Congress glad Al Qaeda has a face it can pursue is beneath the dignity of the Congress and beneath the dignity of civil discourse in this country.

If you do not call your Congressman today and demand the House of Representatives, at the very *least*, censure Congressman Delahunt, well damn us all. We have no right to carry on our fight.

The number is 202-224-3121 and Congressman Delahunt's email address is

And some intrepid reporter should ask Mr. Obama what he thinks of this.  After all, Mr. Delahunt was one of Mr. Obama's early supporters and is now an Obama superdelegate. Of course, you can ask Barack Obama yourself at (866) 675-2008.

When you call your Congressman, you should make sure he knows an apology from Mr. Delahunt will not suffice. Delahunt clearly is lying about and denying his statement. "I'm sorry" would just be more of the same.
