The unretirement of Cindy Sheehan is picking up steam.  Now she wants to unseat Nancy Pelosi-Ricardo.

Waiting for a punchline?  Sorry, there isn't any because this is not a joke.  Well, let me amend that:  it's not intended to be a joke.

Here, let me show you:.

Sheehan Considering Run Vs. House Speaker Pelosi

(AP) CRAWFORD, Texas Six weeks after announcing her departure from the peace movement, Cindy Sheehan said Sunday that she plans to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unless she introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks.

Sheehan said she will run against the San Francisco Democrat in 2008 as an independent if Pelosi does not seek by July 23 to impeach Bush. Thats when Sheehan and her supporters are to arrive in Washington, D.C., after a 13-day caravan and walking tour starting next week from the group's war protest site near Bushs Crawford ranch. "
"Democrats and Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic leadership, Sheehan told The Associated Press. "We hired them to bring an end to the war. Im not too far from San Francisco, so it wouldn't be too big of a move for me. I would give her a run for her money."

Sheehan announced in May that she was leaving the anti-war movement and selling her 5-acre Crawford lot. She said that she felt her efforts had been in vain and that she had endured smear tactics and hatred from the left, as well as the right.

As you can see (as if you didn't already know) Cindy Sheehan is an unhinged LAMB - a charter member of the Lunatic-left And Mega-moonbat Brigade.  But now she's as teed off at the left as she is at the right - maybe even moreso.

And, oddly enough, she's finally making a little bit of sense.

All this time, she has hated President Bush, Republicans, conservatives right wingers, etc.  That, I am certain, remains true, as it should for someone with Ms. Sheehan's views.

But what Sheehan has finally figured out, however belatedly, is that the left is no more on her side than the right.  They have exploited Sheehan to attack the right, but they're not about to hold hands with her and, politically, jump over a cliff.  They know she's a LAMB and that LAMB's are not salable to the national electorate.  So they dumped her like yesterday's racing form.

And now Sheehan is going to seek revenge on the ones who exploited her and then dispatched her.   The ones who made more of a fool of her than she made of herself.

Yep, that makes sense.

2008 is shaping up as quite a show.  If Democratic politics has devolved into a three ring circus (as I think it has), keep your eye on the Sheehan act.  It might just wind up in the center ring.

Here is the latest news regarding our troop surge --- the one that Democratic leadership was nice enough to declare a failure before it was ever implemented:.

Coalition Forces Kill, Detain Terrorists; Find, Destroy Weapons Caches

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, July 8, 2007 -Iraqi security forces and coalition troops have killed four terrorists, detained 21 suspected terrorists and uncovered bomb-making materials and weapons caches during the past three days, military officials reported.

During two coordinated raids on Baghdad's west side today, coalition forces targeted a senior al Qaeda in Iraq operative believed to facilitate the movement of foreign terrorists for suicide-bombing operations by providing fake documents, officials said. The ground forces detained seven suspected terrorists during the operation.

Meanwhile, in southwestern Baghdad, coalition forces targeted a terrorist cell leader allegedly involved in car bomb attacks against the Iraqi army, Iraqi police and coalition forces. Coalition forces detained three individuals for their suspected ties to the cell leader, according to officials.

"Eradicating the bomb network in Baghdad is a high priority for us," said Maj. Marc Young, a Multinational Force Iraq spokesman. "The people of Iraq deserve a future free of murderous bombings and attacks."

In eastern Baghdad yesterday, 12 Iraqi army troops and 11 local residents were wounded when a suicide car bomb detonated at a checkpoint, officials said. Two Iraqi army vehicles also were destroyed in the blast.

Soldiers from Company B, 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, cordoned off the area. The wounded were transported to a medical facility for treatment. The suicide bomber was the only fatality on the attack, officials said.

During other operations yesterday, coalition forces targeted an al Qaeda in Iraq leader suspected of facilitating the movement of foreign terrorists near Khan Bani Saad.

When coalition forces approached the targeted building, they encountered an armed man in a military-style assault vest who drew his weapon on the ground forces, officials said. Responding in self-defense, coalition forces engaged the armed man, killing him.

As coalition forces left the area, several terrorists engaged them with heavy machine guns. Coalition forces called in close-air support to engage the armed men. Three terrorists were killed, and two heavy machine guns were destroyed in the air strike, officials said.

In Hit, coalition forces captured an alleged senior member of the al Qaeda in Iraq organization, officials reported. The individual is suspected of collecting information on Iraqi police, coalition forces and civilians for reports to the al Qaeda in Iraq emir of the area. One other suspected terrorist was detained.

A coalition operation in Mosul netted seven suspected terrorists when the ground forces raided two buildings targeting associates of known al Qaeda in Iraq senior leaders, officials said.

"Were continuing to chip away at the senior leadership and low-level operatives involved in al Qaeda in Iraq," Young said. "The Iraqi people have made it clear that terrorist groups are unwanted and unwelcome in Iraq."

In Mosul yesterday, Iraqi army soldiers and Mosul police discovered an improvised explosives device factory and cache, officials said.

Soldiers from the 2nd Iraqi Army Division in coordination with Iraqi police officers found some 10,000 pounds of ammonium nitrate and other bomb-making materials in a complex that included a building, a warehouse and a storage container. They also discovered a tunnel system connecting all of the buildings, officials said.

Also near Mosul, coalition forces soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, discovered a weapons cache containing homemade explosives and mortar rounds. In addition, the soldiers found a military-grade bunker system nearby that had been used as an insurgent safe house, officials reported.

Precision-guided munitions destroyed all three sites.

In a series of weapons cache finds July 4-6, Marines from Weapons Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, discovered more than 17,000 kilograms of explosives northeast of Thar Thar Dam, officials said.

-- A homemade explosives factory and nearby weapons cache found July 6 contained more than 6,000 kilograms of homemade explosives, 8,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, and equipment to mix, manufacture and transport large quantities of the explosives, officials said.

-- Meanwhile, three separate weapons caches found July 5 north of Karmah contained nearly 10,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, approximately 30 kilograms of nitric acid, 250 kilograms of chlorine and 3,500 kilograms of fertilizer, officials said.

---A cache uncovered July 4 by Marines from Weapons Company contained 4.5 kilograms of homemade explosives, 12 155 mm projectiles, eight 120 mm mortars, 4,700 14.5 mm rounds and an assortment of other weapons and ammunition.

The cache containing the nitric acid, homemade explosives and chlorine was destroyed by an F/A-18 Hornet air strike. Combat Logistics Battalion 13 Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams destroyed all remaining caches, officials said.

Elsewhere, residents of a village south of Baghdad led soldiers of 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) to a series of major weapons caches July 6, officials reported.

A local man who claimed to have knowledge of a large cache complex approached a patrol and walked the soldiers from site to site, pointing out each cache. He then took the patrol to two men, who he said were responsible for collecting and hiding the weapons, officials said. The six caches contained an assortment of weapons, rounds and explosives, including a rocket-propelled grenade-launching kit, homemade explosives, blasting caps, mortar shells and a 107 mm rocket.

Explosive ordnance disposal teams destroyed the explosives, and several other items were seized for further examination, officials reported.

Officials said the area where the caches were found is approximately 1 kilometer from the site of the May 12 attack in which four U.S. soldiers and an Iraqi soldier were killed and three U.S. soldiers were captured. One of the soldiers was later found dead in the Euphrates River; the remaining two are officially listed as "missing-captured."

Do you think that this - or any of the other successes I've chronicled over the last several weeks - will cause Mr. reid or Ms. pelosi to come out and say something like "Ok, maybe it ISN'T a failure" or "I'm glad that US and Iraqi troops are having these successes"?

The answer lies in the fact that they have not done so.

To these people, and to a good many of their fellow Democrats, it is more important to play partisan politics than to acknowledge the successes of our troops and their Iraqi counterparts.

Which side are they rooting for anyway?

Do you know how Britain's National Health Service (NHS) stays afloat?

Hint:  If you think it is because nationalized health care is a wonderful system and qualified British doctors are happy to perform within it for the greater good of all patients, you've spent too much time drinking the kickapoo joy juice.  Or you've bought into the fantasy world presented to you by michael moore in his latest fraud, "Sicko".  The result would be about the same.

NHS stays afloat by importing "doctors" - the term meaning anyone who can make the claim of being a doctor - from anywhere it can find them.  They are young, they are inexperienced and they come from places that, to put it charitably, do not provide them with world-class medical training.

But Britain welcomes them.  Why?  Because without them there is no NHS at all.  Competent, seriously trained doctors flee the UK because the working conditions are despicable and, as an extra added attraction, they can't earn a decent living there.

So the people of Britain wind up with the medical equivalent of what the USA winds up with from Mexico;  Underqualified people willing to do jobs with working conditions and pay that Britons would not accept.

Did you know that something like 40% of all doctors in the UK right now are from other countries.....and a very large contingent of those doctors are from countries that are spawning grounds for Islamic terrorism?

If you rely on the NY Times or network news for your information, the answer is that you don't know a thing about this.

Does that statistic sound bizarre and ridiculous?  Maybe it did a few weeks ago.  But now that we have seen a terrorist attempt guaranteed to produce hundreds of corpses in Piccadilly Circus (the heart of London) which failed only because the detonating mechanism didn't work, and then the attack at Glasgow airport, it isn't so bizarre and ridiculous at all, is it?

Every one of the suspects in these two terrorist attacks is either a doctor, or is in some way involved with Britain's medical system.  Every one.

With that, I would like to show you an exceedingly important column written by the brilliant columnist Mark Steyn.  I won't excerpt it, because there is nothing of lesser importance there.  Nor will I put any of it in bold print, for the same reason.  Here it is:.

The jobs Britons won't do

Syndicated columnist

There are many things wrong with U.S. health care, as there inevitably are with any health care system. The question is whether America wants to go down the British-Canadian-Cuban route, to name three government medical systems that Michael Moore admires in his new film "Sicko." Cuba, of course, is a totalitarian state, and even Hollywood celebrities, though they like to visit, wouldn't want to live there. (Incidentally, the best health treatment available on Cuba is at Gitmo.) The United Kingdom, by contrast, is a free society, but last week's incendiary Jeep Cherokee at Glasgow Airport has shone a rare light on the curious character of its government health system.

Of the eight persons arrested as of Friday in the terrorist plot, seven are doctors with the National Health Service (the eighth is the wife of one, and a lab technician at the same hospital). The bombs failed to go off because a medical syringe malfunctioned. I don't mean it malfunctioned as a syringe (even in the crumbling NHS, the syringes usually work) but as a triggering mechanism, to which it had been adapted, though evidently not too efficiently.

Does government health care inevitably lead to homicidal doctors who can't wait to leap into a flaming SUV and drive it through the check-in counter? No. But government health care does lead to a dependence on medical staff imported from other countries.

Some 40 percent of Britain's practicing doctors were trained overseas and that percentage will increase, as older native doctors retire, and younger immigrant doctors take their place. According to the BBC, "Over two-thirds of doctors registering to practice in the UK in 2003 were from overseas the vast majority from non-European countries." Five of the eight arrested are Arab Muslims, the other three Indian Muslims. Bilal Abdulla, the Wahhabi driver of the incendiary Jeep and a doctor at the Royal Alexandra Hospital near Glasgow, is one of over 2,000 Iraqi doctors working in Britain.

Many of these imported medical staff have never practiced in their own countries. As soon as they complete their training, they move to a Western world hungry for doctors to prop up their understaffed health systems: Dr. Abdulla got his medical qualification in Baghdad in 2004 and was practicing in Britain by 2006. His co-plotter, Mohammed Asha, a neurosurgeon, graduated in Jordan in 2004 and came to England the same year.

When the president talks about needing immigrants to do "the jobs Americans won't do," most of us assume he means seasonal fruit pickers and the maid who turns down your hotel bed and leaves the little chocolate on it. But in the United Kingdom the jobs Britons won't do has somehow come to encompass the medical profession.

Aneurin Bevan, the socialist who created the National Health Service after World War II, was once asked to explain how he'd talked the country's doctors into agreeing to become state employees: "I stuffed their mouths with gold," he crowed. Sixty years later, no amount of gold can persuade Britons to spend their working lives in the country's dirty, decrepit hospitals (they spend enough of their nonworking lives there, waiting to be seen, waiting for beds, waiting for operations). According to a report in the British Medical Journal, white males comprise 43.5 percent of the population but now account for less than a quarter of students at UK medical schools. In other words, being a doctor is no longer an attractive middle-class career proposition. That's quite a monument to six decades of Michael Moore-style socialist health care.

So today the NHS is hungry for medical personnel from almost anywhere on the planet, so hungry that the government set up special fast-track immigration programs: Mohammed Asha, Mohammed Haneef and their comrades didn't even require a work permit to come and practice as doctors in state hospitals. You don't have to be the smartest jihadist in the cave to see that as an opportunity, any more than it required no great expertise for the 9/11 killers to figure that the quickest place to get the picture IDs with which they boarded the planes was through Virginia's "undocumented worker" network. Everyone else from the Venezuelan peasantry to the Russia mafia knows the vulnerabilities of Western immigration systems, so why not the jihadists?

Maybe their mistake was trying to blow up the airport instead of wreaking subtler havoc on the infidels. Did you see this week's scare-of-the-week from the Chinese health system? "About 420 bottles of fake blood protein, albumin, were found at hospitals in Hubei province but none had been used to treat patients, said Liu Jinai, an official with the inspection division of the provincial food and drug administration."

Well, this being China, where public lies about public health are routine, we just have to take Liu Jinai's word that "none had been used to treat patients." But imagine what Doctor Jihad could get up to if he stopped trying to use the syringe as a detonator and just resumed using it as a syringe?

But beyond that the Glasgow Jeep story symbolizes a more basic reality. The NHS is the biggest employer in Europe, and it's utterly dependent on imported staff such as Dr. Asha and Dr. Abdulla. In the West, we look on mass immigration as a testament to our generosity, to our multicultural bona fides. But it's not: A dependence on mass immigration is always a structural weakness and should be understood as such. In the socialized health systems of the Continent, aging, shrinking populations of native Europeans will spend their final years being cared for by young Muslim doctors and nurses. Indeed, in the NHS, geriatric medicine is a field overwhelmingly dependent on immigrant staff.

And what of the other end of the medical business? Take Japan, a country with the same collapsed birth rates as Europe but with virtually no immigration. In my book, I note an interesting trend in Japanese health care: The shortage of newborn children has led to a shortage of obstetricians. For in a country with deathbed demographics, why would any talented ambitious med-school student want to go into a field in such precipitous decline? In Japan, birthing is a dying business.

Back at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, three doctors were under arrest, and the bomb squad performed a controlled explosion on a vehicle in the parking lot. Pulled from the flaming Cherokee, Dr. Kafeel Ahmed is now being treated for 90 percent burns in his own hospital by the very colleagues he sought to kill. But at one level he and Dr. Asha and Dr. Abdulla don't need to blow up anything at all. The fact that the National Health Service the "envy of the world" in every British politician's absurdly parochial clich has to hire Wahhabist doctors with no background checks tells you everything about where the country's heading. .

I hope you read every word of this article and I hope you read it again.  Because this is the face of national health care in Britain.  Disastrously substandard care coupled with an insanely prolific avenue for terrorism to come to the country.

I guess that's the part of "Sicko" that wound up on the cutting room floor.

Maybe one day the UK will come to its senses.  Maybe not.  I hope, for the sake of their national security, OUR national security and just plain common sense, that it does.

Ken Berwitz

In the past couple of weeks I have blogged several times about the unbelievably blatant hypocrisy of the wealthy left, who tell YOU to mind your behavior to save the planet, while THEY gluttonize more energy than you ever dreamed of using.

Here, courtesty of Lynn Davidson at, is another classic example:  Jann Wenner, the publisher of Rolling Stone magazine:.

The Eco-Hypocrisy of Another Green Advocate; This Time Rolling Stone Owner

Posted by Lynn Davidson on July 7, 2007 - 13:41.

As NewsBusters noted, in June Rolling Stone published a green issue that still didn't please the enviro-left. Well, now Radar Online exposed the magazine's founder and publisher Jann Wenner's not-so-green lifestyle which contrast with his ecological stunts and stances.

Radar's July 3 article and July 6 update about Wenner's high-living, carbon-spewing lifestyle which is filled with globe-spanning Gulfstreams, big SUVs, lending his evil Global Warming Inducing Death Plane to high-profile friends (like John Kerry) and staffers ferrying lunches back and forth should really tick the green crowd off. Oh, and he doesn't even recycle. Bad environmentalist, bad!

Wenner is reportedly planning to spend his summer jetting between Europe and his vacation home in the Rocky Mountains. How much carbon dioxide would this add up to for, say, just one get-away trip? Let's count. Wenner flies to his son's wedding in Greece and back to New York, then speeds off to Sun Valley, Idaho with his family. Counting just one round trip in each direction, the miles total to about 14,000.

Now for the fun eco-math (emphasis mine):

Wenner's Gulfstream jet has an optimal cruising speed of around 493 nautical miles per hour. (That figure, and the ones that follow, are based on calculations for a Gulfstream IIB, Wenner's longtime ride. In fact, according to sources, these days he may fly the slightly larger Gulfstream IV; a Wenner spokesman did not reply to calls for comment.) At that speed, the plane would produce around 80 tons of carbon dioxide during the 20-hour round-trip voyage between New York and Athens, and another 33.6 tons flying between New York and Sun Valley. Fun fact: According to the Environmental Protection Agency's emissions calculator, you'd have to drive a Hummer H3 200,000 miles to generate the same amount of carbon.

But it got worse. The update exposed more comical hypocrisy:

Moreover, according to another Wenner source, the Gulfstream isn't his only emissions-intensive vehicle. He also recently purchased a GMC Yukon Denalian SUV whose fuel efficiency is on par with that of the Hummerand also keeps a pair of snowmobiles at his place in Sun Valley, Idaho. Snowmobile engines are notoriously dirty, producing as much pollution in a day of use as a typical car does in 100,000 miles.

And Wenner isn't much better when he's in town, where he has a chauffeured Mercedes to shuttle him the 15 blocks or so between his apartment and his office. Even more wasteful is his lunch routine: a private chef prepares his meal at home, then staffers drive it down to the office, don black-and-white uniforms, and serve it to him on his personal china. "It's like a scene from Gosford Park," says the source. "He's the original limousine liberal." Employees also blame the scarcity of recycling bins in the office on Wenner's anti-clutter fatwas.

Yep. This is who I'm going to listen to when told that I should get rid of my dishwasher and ride the bus?

Yet another example of someone pushing the global-warming and environmentalist agenda who doesn't actually follow the "advice" given to others. This is the guy whose magazine linked 9/11 to Bush's environmental policies in the big 40th Anniversary issue and who put out the book, "Rolling Stone Environmental Reader."

Like Al Gore, Wenner wants you and I to change lifestyles, but he doesn't want to stop flitting about in private jets and killing Gaia one fun-filled vacation at a time. I guess a cross-country trip in a Prius is too bourgeoisie for him. .

Remember, you little people out there;  YOU have to make sure you have the right light bulbs and YOU have to drive a hybrid, and YOU have to use one square of toilet paper per bathroom visit (ok, two or three for "pesky situations", as the lovely Sheryl Crow advises).

But THEY, the fabulously wealthy jetsetters who demand that your behavior change for the sake of mother earth?  For THEM it is private jets and SUV's and energy gluttony that would make an entire neighborhood of normal people blush with embarrassment.

And your job?  Your job is to be a complete, unknowing, unthinking idiot who doesn't notice that this is happening.   That is what media want you to be.  That is what Al Gore wants you to be.  That is what Jann Wenner wants you to be.

Me, I prefer that you don't give them what they want.  But, then again, I'm just Ken.  I don't have any corporate jets or bigger-than-Cleveland SUV's in the driveway.

So, who are you going to listen to, anyway?
