Bill Richardson is not going to be the Democratic presidential nominee in 2008.  You can take that to the bank.  But his new TV ads are great.  You can see them at  Believe me you'll find them attention-getting, funny and loaded with information instead of the sloganeering we usually get from presidential hopefuls.

I've always maintained that if Governor Richardson had been the Vice Presidential nominee in 2004 instead of the human oil slick, John Edwards, Kerry would have won.

Edwards is a political nonentity with no legislative accomplishments at all, who couldn't even deliver his home state for Kerry, let alone any other part of the south.  By contrast, Richardson is a former congressperson, cabinet member (Dept. of Energy) and UN ambassador who is now a two-time state governor.  He could have been the difference in states like New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada.

I thank Kerry for choosing Edwards instead, and insuring that his hard-left, accomplishmentless political career didn't wind up in the oval office.  But I think that Republicans as a group had better worry a lot about Richardson as a potential VP candidate, regardless of who is running for the top spot in 2008.

Here is a summary of what happened on this date in 1944:

In China... Chinese forces cross the Salween River, near the Burmese border, on a broad front.

In New Guinea... Japanese forces continue to skirmish with American forces on the beachheads around Hollandia.

In Occupied France... The French resistance organization (FFI - Free French Forces of the Interior) claims a membership of 175,000.

In Washington... J.V. Forrestal is designated the new Secretary of the Navy. He replaces Knox, who died on April 28th.

How would today's media have treated these events?

The China story would most likely have gone unreported.

The skirmishes between the USA and Japan would be the subject of introspection.  How come we cannot make any headway against these people?  Their country is smaller there are fewer of them and we're supposed to be better trained.  A torrent of criticism about our military readiness would follow.

The French resistance would likely be hailed, though the actual number of resisters might be questioned.  There would be editorials wondering why more of our money is not sent to bolster the French, but instead is being used in other parts of the world that need it less.

Forrestal gets a free pass.  One day on the job, so he's good for now.  Stay tuned.....

Vegans Sentenced for Starving Their Baby

May 9 01:13 PM US/Eastern
Associated Press Writer

ATLANTA (AP) - A vegan couple were sentenced Wednesday tolife in prison for the death of their malnourished 6-week-old baby boy, who was fed a diet largely consisting ofsoy milk and apple juice.

Superior Court Judge L.A. McConnell imposed the mandatory sentences on JadeSanders, 27, and Lamont Thomas, 31. Their son, Crown Shakur, weighed just 3 1/2 pounds when he died of starvation on April 25, 2004.

The couple were found guilty May 2 of malice murder,felony murder,involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children. A jury deliberated about seven hours before returning the guilty verdicts.

Defense lawyers said the first-time parents did the best they could while adhering to the lifestyle of vegans, who typically use no animal products. They said Sanders and Thomas did not realize the baby, who was born at home, was in danger until minutes before he died.

But prosecutors said the couple intentionally neglected their child and refused to take him to the doctor even as the baby's body wasted away.

"No matter how many times they want to say, 'We're vegans, we're vegetarians,' that's not the issue in this case," said prosecutor Chuck Boring. "The child died because he was not fed. Period."

Although the life sentences were automatic, Sanders and Thomas begged for leniency before sentencing. Sanders urged the judge to look past his "perception" of the couple.

"I loved my sonand I did not starve him," she said.

When the judge told the defendants they could ask for anew trial, Thomas hung his head low.

"I'm dying every day in there," he said, "and that could take three years

This is what happens when you pretend there is any good reason to allow complete lunatics to indulge their "lifestyle" at the expense of others.  This is what happens when even the most basic societal norm - caring for your own helpless child - is overridden by the "right" of people to "express themselves".

We have all heard stories of babies being beaten to death and drowned.  We are all (I certainly hope) repulsed by such sick depraved inhumanity.

Well, comparatively speaking, those babies were the LUCKY ones.

This baby was starved to death for six weeks.  He was literally tortured.  And why?  Because his lunatic parents "did the best they could while adhering to their lifestyle of vegans"?

And we're supposed to cry for the MURDERERS in jail, because, in the words of the husband, "I'm dying in here every day"?  I'M dying?

Screw them and screw anyone who would do something like this for "their lifestyle".  I hope they rot in jail for the rest of their lives.

This delightful little story is guaranteed to give you the warm fuzzies........if you think that it's great to train your children as haters and murderers.  The bold print is mine:-

Militant 'Mickey Mouse' pulled off air

By MOHAMMED DARAGHMEH, Associated Press Writer Wed May 9, 7:28 PM ET

RAMALLAH, West Bank - Hamas militants have suspended a TV program that featured a Mickey Mouse lookalike urging Palestinian children to fight Israel and work for global Islamic domination, the Palestinian information minister said Wednesday.

Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti said the character a giant black-and-white rodent with a high-pitched voice represented a "mistaken approach" to the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation.

He said that the program was pulled from Hamas-affiliated Al Aqsa TV at his ministry's request and "placed under review."

The character, named "Farfour," or "butterfly," but unmistakably a copy of the Disney character, preached against the U.S. and Israel each Friday on the show called "Tomorrow's Pioneers."

"You and I are laying the foundation for a world led by Islamists," Farfour squeaked on a recent episode. "We will return the Islamic community to its former greatness, and liberate Jerusalem, God willing, liberate Iraq, God willing, and liberate all the countries of the Muslims invaded by the murderers."

Children called in to the show, many singing Hamas anthems about fighting Israel.

A spokeswoman for Burbank, Calif.-based Walt Disney Co. did not return phone calls seeking comment, and the Gaza TV station had no comment.

The program was opposed by the Palestinian Broadcasting Corp., which is controlled by the Fatah movement of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, a Hamas rival that shares power with the militants in the Palestinian government.

Barghouti is an independent aligned with neither Hamas nor Fatah.

Loyalists of Hamas, which is sworn to the destruction of Israel, launched the Al Aqsa satellite channel last year. Bearded young men read the news and Islamic music is layered over footage of masked militants firing rockets into Israel. The channel also broadcasts talk shows, programs about the disabled and cartoons.

Hamas loyalists also run at least five news Web sites, a newspaper and a radio station.

A few things to remember:

-----Hamas is not just a hate filled murderous group of terrorist subhuman thugs, it is the ELECTED GOVERNMENT of the palestinian Arabs in Gaza and Judea/Samaria (the west bank).

-----If this is a "mistaken approach", how come it ran until there was enough outside publicity to make it an embarrassment?

-----How come other shows, very much including children's shows, which accomplish the same indoctrination are STILL on?

-----And while we're at it, how come the UN run schools in Gaza teach exactly this type of hatred.  Does the UN exercise any control over the schools they run?  What does "run" mean to the UN?  Hand it over to terrorists?

I've said this before, but it bears repeating.  Israel cannot reason with, negotiate with or peacefully coexist with people who want nothing other than their country to be vaporized and their people either out of it or dead - preferably dead.

Maybe it is time for some of the rest of the world to start thinking about this too.

J Hauser The world is happy to give the Palestineans muslims a pass on all their acts of terrorism whether suicide bombings or the indoctrination of their children to hate. Not only are the Palestineans muslims given this pass, no one talks about the atrocities imflicted on the Palestineans christians who are fleeing the area for their own lives and safety. So why do we have all these double standards in the world? What are the real root causes of all this? Any ideas? (05/11/07)

I've blogged about "the flying imams" before, but they are in the news again so here is a refresher for you:

Late last year, 6 "imams" who apparently had just finished attending a muslim event of some kind in Minneapolis were removed from a US Airways flight.  Here are the reasons:

-They made a point of conspicuously performing their prayers - complete with prayer rugs, and bowing on the ground - in front of the other passengers;

-They started yelling at each other in Arabic;

-Once in the plane they got out of their assigned seats and fanned out into different parts of the plane;

-Several asked for seat extenders (which could be used as weapons) though none of them physically needed them;

-An Arab speaking passenger indicated that they were talking, in Arabic, about "bin laden" and "terrorism".

As might be expected, passengers got good and worried about this, and expressed their concerns to the crew.

The "imams" were told to leave the plane, to the applause of passengers and - according to at least one report I've read - other Muslims who were on the plane but entirely undisturbed by authorities.  That is certainly credible, given that no one, not even the "imams", claims other passengers were asked their religion or told that Muslims as a group, would have to deplane.

Now, these six "imams" are suing.  Not just the airline, but the passengers who expressed concern about them.  And they are doing so with the full backing of CAIR (the Council On American - Islamic Relations).

CAIR, in my opinion (and I am far from the only one) has all the credibility of the Italian-American Civil Rights League started by the mafioso Joe Columbo.  Just as the IACRL was a front group for Columbo, so is CAIR a front group for radical islam (much of their "leadership" has ties to radical islam).  It stands to reason that they would be actively involved here.

The bottom line is that this is a fraud.  A scam.  Its purpose, apart from trying to extract as much $$$ as possible from as many sources as possible, is to make people think twice before they react to even the most obvious causes for concern.  The purpose is to make it easier for muslim terrorists to hijack the next plane, by causing people to fear they may be sued for noting suspicious activities and telling authorities about it.

Anyone who thinks we have less reason to be vigilant now than we did years ago, because there hasn't been an attack here since 9/11/01, is a dupe and a fool.  And that goes double for anyone who thinks we don't need homeland security of the most aggressive kind.

These people are using our own legal system to try to destroy us.  And the dupes and fools among us are abetting them, whether they realize it or not.
